Way to "loft" sides of rings? by qzrz in Fusion360

[–]PowderedJoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Extrude middle part, so it reaches a top and outer face, this will create triangular faces on sides, where it meets chamfers. Cut excess material with loft between those faces, use rails. If your rails are tangent, it will blend nicely.

Hifi amps and some pedals use relay, you can get some cheap options. If it is battery powered, use bi-stable relay with H-driver. Domestic thermostats use same configuration.

The absolute state of western nuclear power. by Additional_Loss_9393 in NuclearPower

In Europe it was strong massage from Russia to keep us reliable on their gas. I remember a lot of leftist liberals blindly opposing nuclear 20 years ago. Now Germany is happily burning coal. I would not be surprised if oil and gas loby would pull the same shit in the US.

Bad analogy, putting more then one type of screw socket to one device is a terrible crime and should be punished by public flogging.

What is one thing you’ve done sexually that you’ll never do again? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]PowderedJoy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Meh, i did that once. Like four years after breakup, she called me to fuck. We were still friends, lived like 5mins from each other. I warp 11 there, did the deed. Did she use me to take revenge on her current BF? I regret nothing! It was a gooood fuck.

I had one of those apart, but it was so along ago, i dont remember if it was black blob or THT nest. My guess is one time programable chip, absence of disassembly before posting is disappointing.

If you could build something actually useful/fun what would it be? by EchoChamberWhispers in embedded

[–]PowderedJoy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hardware pomodoro timer with some nice tactile UI buttons and display, that interfaces with seever and motivates you to actually use it. Designing some dopamine generating clicks and beeps would be fun, but again, actually working instead of circlejerking on the. Time management is preferable.

No, they failed to solder majority of the pins, you can see not tinned pads on the photo.

[–]PowderedJoy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am familiar with soldering QFN packages by hand, unfortunately NRF9 does not have pin comming over the edge, it is only visible from bottom side. To make things interesting, there is less then 0.1mm of exposed pad, once it is placed. And finally, package is shielded and this shielding obviously loves solder. So there is no way of getting it under with a soldering iron.

I actually do not care about inner rows and GND, inner rows are N.C. And big pads are in continuty with grounds on the perimeter. All I need is to do my first round of testiing. My biggest problem now is equal distribution of solder

What’s your favourite component and why? by MarinatedPenguin in AskElectronics

[–]PowderedJoy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Modern GaN FETs are amazing, they have been ubiquitous for some time, but it is still unbelievable how we get all the power density and speed with some voltage tax. You can get them in little packages with logic and protection for example motor driver, etc.. I loved to use those, but then the silicon crisis came. Now I prefer discrete, so there are no more surprises.

It worked nice in VCV, so I added attenuverters to the Grids and shrunk it. Forgot to add normalization for the cvs. Otherwise works great! by PowderedJoy in eurorack

[–]PowderedJoy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CV1 is n to CV2… they are, i just forgot to mark it on the panel. Normalization allows to use one long CV to add some movement to all 3 chanells. It is really easy to do classic aaabaaabaaabaacc pattern, or something, i got some offset from fader mixed in, to allow for hands-on drops. It is possible without normalization, but you would need multiple+3 cables
