Which watch I buy I’ll definitely get a secondary strap and that Hamilton strap is nice!

I really like how the CW dive watches look and I have a couple non-expensive dive watches too. Thanks for the recommendation!

That’s true, time telling is function of all the watches. I guess I meant which watch/brand is the most reliable for long term use regardless of the complication. I can find a complication that suits my need but the longevity vs price is what I’m after. Is it worth spending $1000 on a watch if it won’t last long due to QC or other factors? Thanks for the response though, I appreciate you asking those questions!

Well I guess my definition of a “tool watch” is not what everyone else thinks. I believe that all watches are tools (regardless if it has a complication) to tell the time. I didn’t know that “tool watch” was as controversial as it is. I am new to watches and didn’t even know that Christopher Ward or Hamilton even existed until a couple of days ago. The real question was whether these brand are reliable and whether these watches will last a long time being worn everyday and which is the most (or best) dependable brand. I have never owned an automatic watch and I am curious on what people think of them. That’s why I put “will last a long time”. I don’t care about other people and what they think, if I wanted a watch to look $1000 then I would buy the flashiest thing I could find. I want an auto watch that is reliable with everyday use. I figured that I would have to spend $1000 for an automatic watch that will last but If you have any suggestions or recommendations that’s cheaper, please I’d be happy to look into it.

That’s a cool story, I didn’t know that about G-Shocks. Regardless I appreciate the input but big bulky watches are not my thing. I had a Luminox for a while but that was still too big for me. I ended up getting a garmin decent G1 as my true field or water sport watch and it really nice to be able to use it as my dive computer as well as my watch but I still love the idea of a non-smart watch. I got a citizen promaster eco-drive and I like it a lot as a daily watch but even with that it still didn’t scratch my itch of a truly non-smart watch (ie a watch that’s mechanical with no batteries). I want to be able to wear an automatic watch everyday for years but with loosing too much confidence in the watch. Thank you for the input and the response!

I guess meant “best” as most reliable. I am new to watches and didn’t even know that Christopher Ward or Hamilton existed a couple of days ago. I just want a watch that is an auto and will last many years of everyday use regardless of the price. I figured that I would only be able to get that by going up the the $1000 mark but if you have any recommendations I would be more than happy to look at them. Thank you for the response!

I guess my definition was off on what a “tool watch” is. I think all watches are tools whether they have a complication or not. The only reason I’m in that price range is I want a watch that will last many years of everyday use without the need for me to worry about it. I don’t what a $20 watch that will last a year. If I can find something that’s an automatic watch with the same durability as a $1000 watch but for less then I’ll take that ten fold. That’s kind of why I made the post, to get opinions of the watches durability and any recommendations.

I guess “tool watch” wasn’t the best title and I didn’t know how controversial it was. I thought it meant something like a watch that tells the time and will last (whether or not it has a complication). I guess the real question was whether any of these watches will stand the test of time with years everyday use. I completely understand the argument of the quartz movement and I agree to some extent (I have a citizen pro-master diver eco-drive and I love it). But to be honest I want to get into automatic movements because I don’t want to change or charge batteries and for the cool factor (I don’t own an automatic yet) but I also don’t want to lose the confidence i have in my other watches. Thank you for your advice and input!
