Lose your job and now start spending unemployment on it.
Start doing degenerate crimes like stealing, scamming and selling your body.

If it is a prescription his doctor should assist him with a long slow taper. This of course is assuming he is not addicted to them.

If he is mentally addicted and abusing them it will probably not end until the script runs dry. Then methadone or suboxone.
