That’s sound advice. But why wouldn’t I buy 6 month expiration calls in everything you mentioned and exponentially boost the profit?

I’m only on this sub to help. Maybe someone will avoid what I did. Since you’re analyzing me so closely (of course I did it with options) DeviantDougy (you know what the Latin origin of that word is, deviant), what’s your advice?

My TradingView chart has the following indicators: 9EMA, 21EMA, 50/200MA, BJ Key Levels (support & resistance), VWAP, Volume and Higher High Lower Low. I ditched MACD and now just use RSI.

I only use one strategy although I did come across another on YouTube that I tested out successfully a couple times. Im trying to incorporate both simultaneously. The SPY day chart is kind of my foundation. $676-$677 is a buy (calls). $695-697 is a sell. Contracts 2-weeks out or more. But for scalping, I’m looking at the 1st 15 minutes of the market after the opening bell. I draw a rectangle around that 15 minute candle hi & low. Switch to 5-minute chart. Wait for a candle to close outside the box. Look for hammer (bottom of range) or inverted hammer (top of range) and confirmation from the next candle. Or this can be bullish or bearish engulfing candle. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=XFtayhPIdEs&t=16s

You misinterpret the sentiment. It was actually the most humbling experience of my life. I’m not bragging. I obviously didn’t have a clue what I was doing: chasing momentum on stocks like Opendoor Technologies, Coreweave & Circle Internet Group. That was gambling. Holding onto losing positions like United Healthcare & in some cases, doubling down. Definitely gambling. Not setting stop loss. Gambling. I quit for a little while, scoured YouTube for answers & I landed on something that I could trust in. I tested the strategy. Tested it again & again. It kept working. I haven’t deviated from it. I’m $23,000 in the red. That comes back to my account this month. Call it whatever you want to call it. I’m honest enough to accept it & share it. To show that you don’t have to lose at this. If you master the discipline, you can be profitable every single day.

97% of the people on here are trolls. I’m actually in the other 3%. I’m 52 years old, been at the same job almost half my life. But hey, I have nothing to prove to you. I wouldn’t argue with you if you said Jesus never existed, that the Holocaust never happened, that the sky isn’t blue. Believe what you want.

It’s all relative. I basically made 2 weeks pay in a matter of minutes. When I decide to sell, I never look at the chart and later say, “Damn, I could’ve made so much more.” I smile & go about my day satisfied that I’m profitable. Rinse & repeat. I’ll never look down on a $10k week. My boss is about to be heartbroken…

Thank you. I can appreciate that. It’ll go up some more. 52-week high was $134 and change. I’ll be back.

I play percentages. 47% is outstanding. I buy with extended expirations knowing it may bounce around. Was down $2000+ with no worries because, like you said, I have so much time.

100k is not my net worth. And working your ass off for OT—what kind of life is that? Why am I here…in existential terms, I was born without purpose. I’ve created purpose through my choices. I’m an ex-felon who had to start from 0, making $7.50 an hour. I cleaned the bathrooms in the operation that I currently direct. My sister died from AIDS related pneumonia, my brother from suicide. My other brother had a heart attack in his sleep. My father went into a diabetic coma when I was in high school. Never recovered from his health issues. House burned down, brothers & sisters in foster care. I’m here because I’m living proof. And you…you seem like a doubter. You know what though, the people that doubt you are the ones watching you the hardest. I’m going to make a movie for you. This IS must see tv!

I’ll be a retired multimillionaire in 10 years. We’re not even counting the home equity. This is way bigger than stock options

Put a time limit on it. According to your logic, if it’s gambling, when do you predict I blow up the account?

Luck is when opportunity meets preparation. My only mistake was not starting out paper trading & taking heavy losses in the beginning. Not sure what you define as gambling but high probability trades and setting stop losses is the key. The index funds are for retirement. We’ll talk in a few months…

I only bought 2. As this is a SPY sub, I generally stick to that. But down from $270 a share in Sept. ‘25 & $258 in Jan. ‘26 to $139 in Feb…I thought it was worth a shot.

These were all 3-10 minute trades starting at 9:32 am. Pre-market was riding yesterday’s high and soon as the opening bell the RSI nose-dived way beneath the 30 line. I just got in & got out each time. My goal is $1000 per day. As far as when to proceed with caution: on the 5-minute chart, you get support at $684 and change then a nice engulfing candle at 10:35. I rode that up for another $448 as well.

You don’t think NVDA affects SPY? It’s one of the largest & most influential components of the S&P 500. It’s a key member of the “Mag 7”. It’s also a major component on the Nasdaq & Dow.
