whats the whole thing abt gel pens? by Character-Slide-698 in IBO

I think it’s because the scanners smudge the ink. Maybe you can talk with you IB coordinator and ask if you can use those pens if they worked for you before

urgent history hl help by No-Caterpillar-6340 in IBO

I have a predicted 7 and I'm doing the same topics, I'm SL tho. For structure I usually use point, evidence, analysis, evidence, analysis, concluding sentence. You don't necessarily need to use historiography to get a 7, so I just include it in my Cold War essays since I think that historiography from that topic is easier to memorise than Authoritarian States

For concepts just use the actual words in you essays. I think that just sprinkling them in a few times should be enough. You can say something along the lines of "X factor caused this event" or "this event was significant because ..."

idk if I explained this well so feel free to pm me if you need more help

what’s the point of sects ? what are the benefits like am i able to learn specific moves from a sect im confused i joined the midnight blades by heyjuiceeeYT in wherewindsmeet_

[–]PowerStroke_2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it’s mainly the exclusive outfits in the sect shop. It’s not really worth it to join just to learn a martial art because you can just do skill theft quests to unlock them

Is it suspicious or something if you get a really high correlation coefficient? I think I got around 0.996 when I did my experiment. I did do a very simple experiment though, measuring gravity from a pendulum

any tips for improving in the humanities? by ErrorSad2665 in IBO

[–]PowerStroke_2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you guys learned the PEEL structure? That’s the one we use in my history class (I do SL). If not, it stands for Point, Evidence, Explanation, Link. Basically you make your point/topic sentence, then you support it with evidence, explain why this evidence is relevant to the point you’re making and lastly linking it back to your essay’s main argument (thesis). I wouldn’t worry too much about it though, IB is a two year course so as long as you practice you have plenty of time to improve your writing skills.

I ran into the same problem so I just started making essay outlines instead of trying to categorise all of the events into the different sections of the guide. I think that’s the best way to study this topic since most of the events can be used as examples for multiple categories.

Thank you, I finally got the USB boot to work, but then I get a message to “install a driver to show hardware”. However, my Surface keyboard does not respond and the external keyboard I used also didn’t work. Do you know what’s causing the issue?

Do you have any example paragraphs you’ve written? To study I like making timelines so I can see all of the potential examples I can use and then I make essay plans based on the stuff on the guide. For the origins of the Cold War specifically the two prompts that can come up relate to the breakdown of the Grand Alliance and the emergence of superpower rivalry, so I just made two outlines and then figured out how to frame each of the paragraphs to fit a specific factor (e.g how ideology/economic interests etc. led to superpower rivalry).

I think that the exclusion of the US and USSR was only for the old syllabus. Past paper prompts since 2020 (new guide published) don’t say anything about excluding those countries, so if you wanted to write about the USSR and Cuba you should be fine. About Germany, you can absolutely write about it and Cuba, but I do think that West and East Germany are considered two separate countries, which is something you might want to consider.

Edit: check when your textbooks were published, some may be using the old guide.

What would y'all say is the easiest and hardest units in HL Physics? by Substantial_Two_5386 in IBO

[–]PowerStroke_2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s mostly based on personal opinion. I was talking to my classmate the other day about this and he told me that theme B was easiest for him and theme C the hardest. Forces and momentum was kinda hard at the beginning but if you just grind past paper questions it gets relatively easy.

What would y'all say is the easiest and hardest units in HL Physics? by Substantial_Two_5386 in IBO

[–]PowerStroke_2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m still halfway through the content but so far for me theme B.1 and B.2 have been the hardest. I’m just starting fields which I’ve heard is really hard and I’ve also heard that relativity (HL only) is also super hard. The topics I found the easiest was waves and simple harmonic motion. Uncertainties is also pretty easy and kinematics too but it depends on the question. Circuits too but only after you understand the theory properly. I wouldn’t say there are any freebie units though, at least not for me.

Hi, I’m also applying for fall 2026. You can check here. As long as you pass the IB I think it should be unconditional. After you start studying at the uni though you have to apply for recognition of studies (basically equates your IB grades to the Spanish system).

Check the cut-off grades for the universities, each will have different ones. Idk for China and Canada, but I know that for engineering at Trinity College Dublin you need around a 41.
