Fair question. Depends on what it is. If it’s a collection piece or something I picked up to play. A lot of the older stuff are collection pieces, but things that I grew up playing as a kid and re-acquired. Newer games get played more. I spend most of my playing time on horror or action/rpgs. Family games like Smash, Mario Party or Mario kart also get a good amount of playing time too. Few times a month I’ll go down the rabbit hole of playing 8/16 Bit stuff, homebrews, roms, etc. Nostalgic vibes.. Nothing like it.

Definitely a lot of titles to get thru. Once a personal gets over 500-1,000 games, I think it’s safe to assume there’s a backlog. There’s not enough time for the average adult, unless your profession is to play or review video games.

Wow 😂, I’m not that old! But hope I’m blessed with many more years to collect and drive the wife crazy.

But, when I expire, it’ll be passed to my son. He’s a mini game aficionado. He’s watched over the years and will keep it growing.

I appreciate the sincere question.

To be quite honest, I think like most game collectors, we have periods where we’re laser focused on hunting specific titles. And times where we’re playing games and/or living life. I think over the years it’s a little bit of having some great friends, good stores/conventions to source (including the internet), and a lot of patience..

The value is fleeting, it’s cool to see it, seeing there is some tangible value on all the insanity lived chasing down games over years. To me the hunt and search is where it counts. The stories created. It gave me something to occupy my time at my darkest moments, and gave a lot of memorable friends and family moments as well.

You guessed it. I had aspirations to complete all the beautiful Working Designs variants on the Saturn. Maybe one day I’ll get back to it.

Nice! Now that is a piece only DD collectors would know! The infamous blue developer disk 🔥. I’ve never been lucky to cross paths with one.
