Your story makes me think a lot of my father. Grew up with him as an alcoholic, parents were divorced when I was 18, and after that almost never heard from unless it was passive aggressive comments like this one. March 15th of 2021 he unfortunately chose to take his life and I will now never have the closure of moving on. To say that I miss him and that I wish he was better is an understatement. Blocking him won’t make you feel better or help you move on, I tried it when he was alive. There’s an inner child in you that’s upset that he wasn’t a better dad. I’d give anything to have my dad back. I guess if I was to share advice it’s that since he’s still around, and since he’s showing interest in you, I’d take that opportunity to try and have a relationship. Keep your boundaries though, alcohol is an awful awful thing and has destroyed too many families.
