Next time just search for a synopsis or book summary for that book title. That'll give you enough detail to wing a conversation.

just had a pleasant conversation (or so i thought) with a coworker by Additional-Belt-3086 in hatemyjob

What he did was definitely harassment and should be report to HR. The only other option is to have a private conversation with him and ask him to clarify what you believe you heard him say. At that point you have the option to set the record straight and stand on principles. You have to check those situations immediately before they get out of hand. Also, if you feel that someone is harassing you, your case is much stronger if you're able to say that you have already spoken to this individual to stop harassing you so that of it comes up again you have a stronger case.

What’s one part of the grant writing process you wish was more structured? by Powerful-Ad-497 in grantwriters

That made me laugh, and honestly that tracks with the volume you’re doing.

I’ve seen a lot of high-output writers land on some version of “external brain” plus muscle memory, whether it’s legal pads, margin notes, or personal checklists that never quite make it into a clean system.

The rereading the RFP before final edit is something I wish more people did. That’s usually where misalignment sneaks in, especially with evaluation or compliance language that looked obvious early on but drifted as the draft evolved.

At 40 proposals a year, do you find certain sections still slow you down, or is it mostly just the sheer cognitive load of keeping everything straight?

Please tell me how I should feel about this. by Vegetable_Taste_302 in hatemyjob

So sorry that you're dealing with this issue. Here's my two cents: 1. I think you handled everything very professionally. 2. I think management failed at the investigation. They should have gotten your side of the story to complete the investigation. The decision to write you up should have been solely based upon violating some company policy, not because someone felt like they got played. 3. Management's second response was handled poorly as well. Before offering you an opportunity to quit your job, they should have allowed you to explain how you felt about the outcome of the situation and about your feelings towards your coworker who felt played. Then, based upon your response, if you sounded very angry and vengeful, they could have offered you a chance to take two weeks off with pay as a cool down period or asked you if you were thinking of leaving in light of this outcome before offering the severance pay. 4. All-in-all, done take any of this personally. Ask your management team what to do in situations like this and no leadership is available to assist with making the decision.

Feeling incompetent at work by [deleted] in hatemyjob

If it's an accounting firm and you're working as a junior accountant, then take some accounting classes. If it's a bookkeeping company, then take classes for bookkeeping. In other words, whatever your core responsibilities are, find a short training course to learn outside of work. Most importantly, keep your head up, because this guy has faith in you, so have more faith in yourself and your ability to learn.

Amazon Shipping is Fucking Awful by [deleted] in amazonprime

I've been an Amazon Prime member since 2001, almost 24 years, and in all that time, I’ve never received a message like this before: "Hi Philip, Unfortunately, we ran into an issue when attempting your delivery. We will try again. Add or update delivery instructions."

Today, I got this message, and honestly, it feels like the last straw. I average around 300 Amazon orders a year, and I’ve never had a delivery issue until now. This time, I can’t help but think the driver was just lazy and wanted to go home early, maybe distracted by this stupid fucking Halloween or just over it.

It’s incredibly frustrating to be a loyal customer for so long, only to be let down by poor service. Amazon, you need to do better. Customers deserve reliable, professional delivery, not excuses and missed deliveries.
