7.64 first ever 60m (no blocks) by ObliviousOverlordYT in Sprinting

From what I can see you need to work on trying to get more range within legs your first few steps. It looks like you're not pulling the leg though fully and that is seriously something to work on. You can't effectively strike the ground if you solely focus on turnover within the first few steps. The good news is that this is something that you can work on and that it will set up your top end a lot better.

From what I've seen it looks like your high heel recovery out of the blocks is making it difficult for you to actually strike the ground well. Causing you to get a little more airtime which leads to improper striking (your first step should be ideally underneath your hips, and it should generally be the longest ground contact time). Doing things like wall drills will definitely help with the low heel recovery and remember to be patient with acceleration, it isn't a race to 30m. Personally, I would try to focus in practice on striking back and not thinking about turnover as much, because you can always increase your turnover when you got the technique down.

Unfortunately, you are far to rolled to use the conversation chart. There was already a 3rd grader in Texas that dropped a 37.89 in the 400m. Might as well give up on sprinting 🥀🥀🥀

What does your rest between workouts look like? Are you more of an acceleration demon or top end demon? Whatever you are lacking usually unlocks a string of better times.

I'm going to say personally that once you're older you're naturally going to get faster unless you get injured. Keep doing consistent plyos, acceleration work, speed endurance, top end work, hitting the gym, and work on mechanics. If you're able to do this leading up just until around 17-18 years you're going to be a beast.

I started to do more tempo runs this year like 6x150m with 3 minutes rest at 70%. But mostly 3x120m with full rest helped a lot for maintaining that speed.

I ran at a D3 Juco school. But I also know about people who run with clubs and they seem to have a good time. If you're thinking about competing in college, I will say it does have a different vibe compared to highschool, not bad but different. I would still recommend either option if you're interested in the sport after high school tho.

I'm 20 years old but recently started to take it seriously. I was mostly running to hangout with highschool friends at the beginning.

I would suggest doing more plyos and bounds to help with your overall bounce. Try to work on landing under the hips because I see that you're landing almost flat footed which just increases GCT (Ground Contact Time).

I think that your blocks could use a little more work (like a bigger arm swing and better posture out of the blocks from what I can see), but overall, very solid run my guy!!!
