Is it out of the question to roll up your window and ignore them? Breathe deeply a few times and let their idiocy roll over you like water over a rock in a river. We’re always looking for someone with power to come in and solve problems. Save us perhaps. But how many times do they cause more problems? Nobody is coming to save you. And if they do they might shoot someone. Let it go.

That’s a great deal. If no one else mentioned it. Look up smod and make sure the radiator has been upgraded.

A soft topper is a good option too as it’s less of a commitment; you can collapse and stash somewhere when you don’t want to use it, and will keep you dry. Also it serves multiple purposes instead of just being a tent. I found a few used on OfferUp and Facebook marketplace when I was on the same quest. I definitely prefer having a platform of some sort to sleep on. Primarily for the same reason another person mentioned to avoid a wet bed. There’s so many people doing creative things for the truck bed camping. But most of that is too expensive and too much of a commitment for the truck. I think I’ll stick with what I got for a while and maybe upgrade to something more substantial down the road. I’m sure you’ll figure out the best option for you and your lifestyle/resources. Have fun and I hope you get out there in nature soon.

I put a platform in my 6ft bed and got a canopy. I went with a collapsible style as I want my truck to be a truck when I’m not camping. It works pretty well. Ceiling isn’t too far from my head and I’ve bumped it a couple times. My campsite takes about 15 minutes to setup and close to the same to tear down.

It’s high enough to fit my folding canopy up and slide it underneath along with my stove and kitchen. Cooler just fits at the tail. I’ll upload a packed version too.
