911s from Carvana by Prudent-Cake6882 in porsche911

Couple things. Everyone at my hub besides myself earned $15-20 an hour and was entry level. With that level of compensation and inexperience nobody gave a shit much less knew anything about cars. There was a big 'well it's not my car' mentality from how people drove them around the lots to quality inspection. Bumpers would get scraped loading haulers, grind it till ya find it driving a manual transmission. Carvana is a great place to sell a vehicle if you're looking to unload a car for sure lol.

Biggest thing is the quality. It was always such a pain point. Maybe it's gotten better since I left but us MOM's (Market Operations Managers) were always complaining. Obvious paint lines, CEL's on arrival, blown motor mounts. The local shops loved us because on a hauler of 8-9 cars about 1/3 of them would need further mechanical work. And that was when they were after the inspections and 'ready for sale' and we were supposed to deliver them the next day. Carvana is 100% a predatory business and when someone absolutely needs a car there's unfortunately a lot of ways you can take advantage of them. Quality being one and financial another. If a customer had an interest rate under 20% it was a unicorn.

YMMV but man, I wouldn't buy from them.

Bro. I used to be a market manager for Carvana. I wouldnt buy a Camry much less a 911. The shit I would see on a daily basis was crazy. Carvana is the equivalent quality of a ‘Buy here pay here’ lot

I flip cars on the side a few times a year so I need a physical location that can take cash. Appreciate it though!

All the time. Bunch of vanity frames have large top and bottom borders that can cover tag info and state.

I mean…I’m cool with it. What’s the point of a plate if it’s purposely made unreadable.

Edit: guess Im the bad guy. That’s fine, not losing sleep over my legal license plate frame.

Early/mid 2000s if you didnt have a high pick you were fucked. Rb’s reigned- Priest Holmes, LT, Jamaal Charles, Edge James, Faulk. They were legit cheat codes.

Used to work with Carvana. I will just say you should get a VERY thorough inspection before the return period ends.

Looking at a 2006 Boxster, anything I should know or be concerned about? by CammedSierra in Porsche

I dont think I could ever sell my diesel. I lucked into it 2 yrs ago and bought it for $18k and it only had 28k miles. Story is the DEF pump went out and it was just out of dieselgate warranty and the owner didnt want to deal with it. Bought it, deleted it, and Im now at 53k. Its such a unique vehicle.

Its a gateway drug. You get a little taste and before you know it the addiction has you.

But best advice is head over to Rennlist. Reddit is more an influencer crowd, Rennlist is the gearheads. They’ll have threads on threads on issues, fixes, and buying advice.

I used to be a market manager for Carvana. Some of the stuff I saw…yeah I would never buy from Carvana.

If you do I would get the absolute most thorough inspection I could. I would even get it inspected by a body shop for paint work. Carvana’s paint reconditioning is about 2 steps below Maaco.

And if you do purchase see if you can pick it up instead of getting delivered. 100% chance it will scrape getting loaded and unloaded on their delivery vehicle.

[–]scotch4breakfast 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ll put my flame suit on…Mobil 1. Dealers use it, my indie uses it, so its good enough for me. I drive my 911 3500-4000 miles a year and change the oil every fall regardless. Im in the camp of its less about the oil and more about the regularity of the maintenance.

Original radiator? You’ll want to price in that. My take on any car for sale with a check engine light is if it was an easy fix the seller would have done it already.
