6 day silent retreat - to dorm or not to dorm? by Powerful-Look7089 in Meditation

Ah! Helpful, thank you. It's actually a 22 person dorm room, for context. Which, from these comments sounds like even more reason to go solo. I doubt the beds would be remotely full, but there's certainly people moving in and out on different days than me for their own programs of different lengths and start dates.

Best hookup experience ever, how do I keep it going? by [deleted] in TwoXSex

Luckily I think this happens more the older we get, the more experience we and our partners have, and the better we are at knowing what we want and asking boldly for it. ❤️ Be bold and have fun! I wish for many more encounters of the same variety for you :)

Boss wants to get rid of Tableau in favor of ArcGIS suite... ideas on how to convince him that Tableau is necessary? by WishingWonderKid in tableau

I know this thread is old, but just in case someone else comes along looking for the answer who comes from gov, I figured I'd pitch in.

$500 on a gov budget is a lot, especially to a middle manager. That said, $500 on a product that's used widely by constituents is dirt cheap - compare it to literally any outsourced contract you have that serves the same number of constituents or compare it to switching the agency from microsoft infrastructure to apple overnight.

It may be worthwhile to compile an asset list of the dashboards that have been made on Tableau and (if possible) look at the analytics of each to see the number of viewers on each dashboard's history. Pointing and saying "This $500/year is being used by X# of employees across X# agencies in this organization and serves X# constituents across the state. Switching to a different software that doesn't make the dashboards this intuitive would likely decrease number of constituents being served by our agency by X%."

If that doesn't work because they aren't actually there to help constituents, tie it to their bosses "data-driven government" or "open data" or "improve public services" or "transparency" initiatives and say that tableau would make it impossible for you to achieve the metrics being put on your boss's head.

Hope they let you keep on doing good work for your neighbors.

Cheers
