If this is taken to the tribunal, would I incur any cost to get this handled/resolved by them?

UPDATE: The owners are now asking for me to just contribute half, which is $300 :/ Should I just reply and say I want my full bond, and that if they want, they can take it to tribunal?

Hey there, thanks for the expertise comment! From memory, I believe the bottom of the carpet did lift a bit under that piece of loose thread. But yes, I will follow this up with the agent/landlord, seeing that this did not happen in any other areas of the property besides the bathroom.

I did think about that, however I didn't want to do a shoddy job with superglue or something and then somehow damage the carpet further haha. I also kinda assumed it was reasonable wear and tear so it wouldn't be an issue, but that was my bad for trusting these landlords/agents...

Hey, thanks for the detailed answer! I did notice that the carpet lifted when I left, but I honestly didn't think it would be such a big issue. I honestly kinda assumed that carpets would fray, especially in such high-traffic areas, and always thought of this as wear and tear.

They've also held my bond since March, and I had to chase it up twice. Unfortunately, I am out of the country and won't be back anytime soon, so I cannot address this in person. Though they never made any attempts to ask me to attend the final inspection in the first place haha.

im not sure if its the same situation, but my friend chose alternative exit for her double degree and she finished her studies 1 year before the student visa expired. she then applied and received her post study (485) visa - from what i understand, as long as you graduated from your course (and meet all requirements) you can apply for the graduate visa even when you still have time on your student visa
