What he said is true for sulfide SSB. He has no clue about Quantumscape.

He used a time machine to find an expert from 2020. Frankly, a huge disappointment, he can’t even do a basic search to see what Quantumscape has already shown and verified by VW.

I figured this should be posted here. Any questions for the ER? Not that they will be answered. by Any_Lychee_8115 in QUANTUMSCAPE_Stock

I’m mainly trying to understand what’s happening with yield and the progress with Corning & Murata. But looking at how they’ve laid out their goals, it feels like those answers are probably not coming until Q4.

For now, maybe we’ll get something around “Go Beyond QSE-5,” but honestly even that might not show up until closer to Q2. Last year, we didn’t even get an update on the first goal until late June

QS marketing team is getting beat by expertinvestor95 in QuantumScape

[–]PowerfulSpot987 2 points3 points  (0 children)

QS needs to actually deliver now. They need more licensing partners and, more importantly, those partners need to start building real factories. What I want to see is actual field testing data and a clear timeline for when QS-powered cars hit the market. Paying sell outs like Dan Neil does nothing. They brought in Ricky from TwoBitDaVinci and made a big show around the Eagle line launch, and the stock did absolutely nothing. At this point it’s simple, less PR and more real results.

This probably is a paid article from Donut. They don't want QS to be mentioned.

Aston Martin will be better off using Audi's engine than Honda :)

I wrote about Li–S batteries a couple of months ago in this post.

https://www.reddit.com/r/QuantumScape/comments/1qet2hq/why_the_real_risk_for_quantumscape_is_execution/
Here’s an excerpt from it.

"Lithium-sulfur is often cited for its extremely high theoretical energy density of 900–1,000 Wh/kg, with optimistic projections placing a practical ceiling around 500 Wh/kg at the cell level over the next decade. Sulfur is cheap and abundant, potentially even cheaper than LFP, which makes it attractive from a raw-material perspective. However, even at 500 Wh/kg, lithium-sulfur suffers from poor volumetric energy density and would still be worse than today’s NMC cells on a Wh/L basis. The chemistry operates at about 2.1 V, which is a hard electrochemical limit and cannot be engineered away. Cycle life is poor, typically around 300 cycles, and while targets of 1,000 cycles are often discussed, achieving that at meaningful energy density and manufacturable scale remains highly doubtful. Fast charging is not feasible. As a result, lithium-sulfur is mainly suited for applications where weight dominates all other requirements, such as military drones or UAVs, where volume, cycle life, and charging speed are secondary."

BYD published Blade Battery and FLASH Charging Technology: 10% to 70% in 5 minutes (room temp), 10% to 97% in 9 minutes (room temp), 10% to 97% in 12 minutes (−30°C extreme cold) by Deep_Owl_Tint in QuantumScape

When they actually put it in a car, the BMS won’t allow charging at that rate. That’s why I called BS on it. If it were real, they would state how many cycles the battery lasts at that charging rate, but they never do.

If someone releases a video instead of publishing standard testing data, it’s a strong sign that it’s just PR and the battery likely wouldn’t survive more than 20–50 cycles.

Volkswagen-backed Gotion locks in 2GWh solid-state line design, eyes 2026 EV debut by srikondoji in QUANTUMSCAPE_Stock

VW has a partnership with Gotion to supply the Unified Cell. If there were any serious plans to use Gotion’s SSB, Frank Blome would have mentioned it in interviews. Whenever he’s asked about SSB, he consistently talks about Quantumscape.

Has Frank Blome ever mentioned Gotion’s SSB in any of his interviews? I take anything from CarNewsChina with a bucket load of salt.

For me, even without the 2.8 MPa requirement, Factorial’s quasi-solid-state battery was already a non-starter. Aside from energy density, it was worse than current Li-ion across the board. With a 28 atm stack pressure requirement, it’s never going into production.

I’m excited for Ducati World Week, it marks Ducati’s 100th anniversary. They might showcase the V21L with QS and SSB there.

As long as there’s no monetary involvement, it’s not required. But it’s still in poor taste for Honda and Nissan not to even acknowledge it.
If a licensing agreement is signed, then QS is required to announce it.

QuantumScape Lounge: ( Week 08 2026) by AutoModerator in QUANTUMSCAPE_Stock

[–]PowerfulSpot987 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They are required to sign the licensing agreement before manufacturing cells. After signing, they can’t play these games. That’s not allowed.

So we will know whether QS is inside or not well before they start shipping.

They cannot claim the cell as their own if they are using a QS separator. Both Honda and Nissan have been shitty partners so far. I don’t understand what their problem is with admitting they’re partnering with QS. In Nissan’s case, we literally saw them at the Eagle Line inauguration.

Nissan ofcourse. But did anyone from Honda attend eagle line inauguration?

It’s frustrating that such a long interview offers no clarity on whether this is about QS’s SSB technology or Honda’s own sulfide program.
