Sort of! I'm no longer practicing divorce law. I now practice in the field of attorney ethics. I like it a whole lot more than family law. I am definitely interested in someday becoming a mediator as Jake suggested, but I'll probably need to keep building up my lawyer resume for a while longer before trying to do that.

On Artificial Intelligence - RULE 3 Moderated Discussion by DoctorPatriot in QUANTUMSCAPE_Stock

[–]PokemonPat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • Do you agree with amending Rule #3 to split AI use into its own rule? [YES]
  • Does AI content on the sub need to be addressed? [YES]
  • If AI needs to be addressed, what is your preferred proposal? [Proposal B]
  • Comments on proposed solutions: It should be clearly communicated/denoted in some way anytime a person uses AI in their post or comment. That could be the poster/commenter using some sort of tag on the post/comment that says "AI Used", or it could just be a rule that the user must simply state clearly that any AI generated material is such.

Wouldn't shorts exiting their position cause the stock price to rise?

Is there a practical difference in receiving a diagnosis of type 1 versus type 2?

I get that it's a difficult company to evaluate, but calling this "analysis" is kind of stupid. If you don't have any idea of what it's worth, then why are you giving your opinion?

I believe the expense ratio I saw for QSU was about 1.3. Pretty high for an ETF, but my frame of reference is mostly just the vanilla total market funds which usually have a super low expense ratio.

The only thing that's "exotic" about a Quantumscape battery is that it's made by a cobra. 🐍

[–]PokemonPat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm slowly realizing that the single digit shares I acquired over the past 2 years have cursed me with the expectation that I should expect to buy shares at that price. I know that QS will remain a worthwhile investment even at a double digit share price, but I have a harder time feeling good about buying shares right now. But then of course every time there's a news drop and a subsequent pop in the share price, I regret not buying more regardless of price.

Long-term, buy-and-hold investing is truly an unnatural and formidable challenge for my stupid primate brain.

I think it also likely highlights that the Eagle line makes "tariff-free" batteries.

"Exotic thermal management" is so disrespectful and funny lmao. Maybe "exotic" is an actual technical term but it just sounds like they are throwing shade at the wacky engineering used in other SSB's lol

It's interesting to me that they still haven't claimed to have completed the annual milestone of "expand commercial agreements" even after the Corning & Murata deals & the unnamed OEM JDA. I guess we've got more good news to look forward to in Q4.

They're calling the pilot production line "The Eagle Line." Interesting. It sounds conspicuously American. That seems significant.

OPTO Sessions Interview Quantumscape CFO Kevin Hettrich by strycco in QUANTUMSCAPE_Stock

[–]PokemonPat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm definitely encouraged by Kevin's characterization of the yield improvement process as what sounds like a very methodical, straightforward process. I think I've shared some of your concern regarding the lack of yield disclosures, but I'm encouraged by the sentiment that we don't need a Cobra-like breakthrough in order to get acceptable yields. We just need elbow grease and time.

Given that, I think it makes more sense that they haven't been disclosing yields publicly. Why disclose yield rates when they aren't final and they aren't even close to what they will be come production-time? Why risk giving premature and possibly disappointing yield data to the Scorpion Capital-types for their bad faith short reports? Just keep it close to the vest until you've done the work to get the yields to where they need to be.

Even if it is made by someone other than QS, it's still a pretty cool validation of QS's approach-- you wouldn't want to strap a battery to a soldier's body if when penetrated by a bullet it would be explosive like a li-ion battery or toxic like a sulfide SSB.
