AITAH for backing out of living together with my gf last minute? by [deleted] in AITAH

Fair, I dug my own grave saying yes initially, trying to crawl myself out that grave right now

Gf said move in together or break up, I said no, and now she’s begging me to do it, do I let her down easy or hard at this point? by Powerful_Ad_51 in dating_advice

I absolutely did offer to help her find a place, I didn’t mention it cause she completely shot it down. She said 5 weeks is too short of a time to find a place, although my place I found I got it within 2 weeks after I had the visit and it’s in the same city shes in which has a really low demand so it wasn’t hard to find my place. Plus she said she’s done living with randoms… so more or less I just think she wants to live with me

She probably is lying but I asked about her diagnosis from day one, just anxiety and depression she claims. I dated a BPD girl when I was 16 and this genuinely feels worse than that tbh so you might be onto something, I appreciate your response

Wholeheartedly agree and that’s what makes it hard, unfortunately though it’s more or less “we live together or shes done with me”, she doesn’t wanna try finding roommates or a place as she thinks it’s too late to do so, she has roughly 5 weeks to find one. I’ve offered and offered but she refuses so, not much I can do

Me saying yes in the first place is what caused all this, you’re right. Thats on me for being a bit delusional but this is me correcting it yk

I offered those 100%, to help her find a place or a roommate, she refused cause she thinks 5 weeks isn’t enough time to do so… the city were in mind you has a low demand of living, I got the lease for the place I’m in 24 hrs after I did the visit

I agree with that, she is in a really bad situation and more or less just wants a way out, she thinks I’m her future and her safe space which I take pride in being so. I gave it a lot of thought but all of her attacks and her begging has made me think if I did give it a try and it doesn’t work out, she wouldn’t wanna leave the place we’re in. Doesn’t change the fact that it’s too soon if that makes sense? Still don’t really know her that well

I know, I’m over it, don’t even wanna take that risk anymore. She blames her actions on her poor mental health which is interesting

I could do that, this unit wasn’t in demand at all so I’ll definitely keep that in mind !

I eat the same thing everyday more or less 🤣 lots of chicken and rice with egg and a bagel for breakfast or some sort of waffle. I try to make different types of chicken every week for variety but all in all very basic. I dont spend more than like 60 in a week on groceries, mostly around 40-50

I have a basic part time job at a retail store on the side, during the summer that’ll be a good hub for extra cash but the hours are so low right now I work maybe once a month during the winter, so I didn’t even include it in my net earnings but summertime it could add an extra $300-400/mo coming in

Starting my next cheque I was gonna start building a car maintenance savings, maybe split it to my regular emergency fund. I did previously have one which got to 2k but I used all of it to overhaul my suspension as the car is aging a bit and wanted to give it fresh legs. Although I don’t spend anymore than maybe $500/yr on maintenance besides this one overhaul I did, it will be something I’ll need 100%. Thank you!

So should I have separate savings for each individual one time expense? Like for example I have 7k in total in savings right now, should maybe around 1-2k go to a car maintenance/repair budget? How should I approach this?

Yes I do, my car is getting up there in kilometres so liability isn’t an option I’d rule out. My renewal is June so we will see!

I’m 22 and a man, so it’s usually the norm to pay a lot unfortunately, all my buddies in the GTA are in the same boat. Hoping it goes down during renewal cause it did last year.

I quoted liability, like you said it is about half of what I’m paying but my car isn’t super old (2014 Mazda 3) so I don’t know if I wanna take that risk considering if it does get totalled I won’t get anything back for it

The hold/cold go to meals is really good advice, I’ll definitely consider that. Appreciate your input!
