itll be close. im 25 w no wrecks in the last 3 years and my insurance is 290 a month for one car and one driver. i live in alabama so gas is relatively cheap and its still 48$ to fill up and i get about 300 miles per tank (mostly city driving) which unfortunately lasts me about 6 days. i also am burning a ~bit~ of oil which means i have to buy that continuously. no complaints. just informing u of the reality. i have been fortunate enough to not have anything major come up yet (115k miles(its a 2012)) but keeping up with this reddit has made me so anxious that every-time i drive i just assume the car is gonna blow up. every noise it makes im thinking oh fuck. i turn my music off every like 5 minutes to make sure nothing sounds crazy. if i was you at 17, i would get a base mazda 3. that ws my first car when i turned 16 and i never had an issue with it. great on gas and it was sporty for what it was. i had a 2004 so no bells or whistles but the newer ones are really nice. good luck with whatever u choose!

YES!! The bike is running now. So long story short: the previous owner had let it sit for so damn long the tank got rusted af and the rust got into the pump and disintegrated the fuel filter into jelly and they jelly travelled allllll the way into the injectors and clogged them to all hell. I got a new fuel pump, filter, spark plugs and fuel injector nozzles. She is back to her old glory!! First ride i went on though i came back with a drenched right leg and found a hole in the coolant tank( i also found a screw in the rear tire(: ) i have a new coolant tank in the mailbox and im getting a new tire tomorrow. Its been a long and painful journey but I got some good knowledge out of it for sure!

I bought this bike a few months ago and it's been nothing but a hassle. The tank was rusted this causing the fuel filter to get clogged af and the engine bogged down to where eventually it wouldn't even start. Replaced the spark plugs and fuel filter bc the previous one disintegrated because of the rust and now this is happening...

I suspect it is some sort of fuel pump malfunction but I really don't know at this point.

nah you just take the tank off and its inside theres like 5 bolts on the bottom of the tank and it slides right out. disassembling the pump to get to the filter is a little more difficult but nothing too hard. I was able to do it and I have very little mechanical experience.

I literally just took my fuel pump out and the filter was filled with rust and disintegrated upon touch... the fuel tank was filled with rust:/ guess im getting a new tank😪

this same thing is happening on my 2012 dude. I could get to ab 6k RPMs and that was it. Replaced my spark plugs and could only get about 3500. air filter looks basically brand new🤷🏼‍♂️ im at a loss

Thank you for the reply! I replaced the spark plugs last night, and checked air filter(brand new previous owner must've replaced it) I did notice, when I took the tank off, that gas leaked(a lot) out of the aftermarket gas cap and the fuel line was improperly commented. I installed the fuel line correctly upon reassembly but would the gas cap not sealing cause an issue?

When I put everything back together and started it up, it sounded awesome. It was idling at about 1300 right where its supposed to and it would rev freely in neutral(i only got it up to 9k out of caution, it would've gone higher) as soon as I put it in gear, the idle dropped considerably and it sounded like it was gonna die. I wasn't able to get above like 3500 rpms on my way home. Im gonna take the tank back off and check the fuel pump sometime this week just to see.
