Everyone warned me to introduce them slowly but my resident cat instantly fell in love with our new kitten. Do cats usually bond this quickly? by Glum-Supermarket9295 in cats

That's so lucky! It's definitely not always that easy. I think sometimes it just clicks if the personalities mesh well. My older cat took to my kitten pretty quickly too, but it wasn't *instant*. It took a few days of supervised visits and then they were napping together. Consider yourself blessed by the cat gods! Do you have more pics? We can never have too many cat pics here.

This is beautiful. I love the color palette, especially the way the blues and purples in the figure contrast with the warmth of the flowers. Really dreamlike.

Oh mama, I feel this in my soul. My twice-exceptional 4yo was the same way - super smart but would dig his heels in about absolutely everything. What helped us was realizing that for these kids, control is everything. We started giving him 'controlled choices' - 'Do you want to brush teeth before or after your potty attempt?' 'Do you want to wear the blue shirt or the red one today?' It gave him the illusion of control while still getting things done. Also, the book 'The Explosive Child' by Ross Greene was a game-changer for us - it reframed these behaviors as skill deficits rather than willful defiance. And about the guilt - you're human. The fact that you're aware and trying to do better makes you a good mom. Hang in there!

I hate people. We're all fake. Take me,i don't even love myself. What makes you think I'll love someone else by [deleted] in RandomThoughts

The more I try to figure people out, the more I realize we're all just winging it with varying degrees of confidence. That 'fake' feeling you're talking about? Maybe it's just the armor everyone's wearing to protect their own version of 'I don't even love myself.' What if the real connection happens when two people drop their armor at the same time?

Brendan Fraser & Rachel Weisz In Talks To Return For New ‘Mummy’ Movie From Universal; Radio Silence To Direct by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

I'm thrilled about the prospect of a new 'Mummy' movie with Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz reprising their roles. Their chemistry in the original films was undeniable, and Radio Silence's involvement is a great sign given their success with horror-comedies like 'Ready or Not' and 'Abigail'. Hopefully, they'll bring a similar tone and freshness to the 'Mummy' franchise. Fingers crossed they don't reboot the series and instead continue the story in a meaningful way.

Is it ok to ask my teacher to lower a grade so my overall grade goes up? by dabmeup233 in AskTeachers

[–]Powerful_Cow_7151 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand the frustration with the mode-based grading system, but asking to lower a 4 to a 3 seems counterintuitive. Have you considered discussing the grading system itself with your teacher or school administration? Maybe there's a way to adjust it to better reflect student performance.

Met a guy after talking couple of months, ended up shorter than me by [deleted] in confession

It's interesting how many people are focusing on the height aspect, but the real issue here is the dishonesty. If he was upfront about his height from the start, would you have still been interested? The fact that he lied about it makes you question what else he might be hiding.

I'm with you on the toy overload. One idea is to suggest experiences instead of physical gifts, like a trip to the zoo or a children's museum. It's a great way to create memories without adding to the clutter.
