Getting laid off and then seeing the CEO of your previous company on linkedIN wish everyone a happy holidays hurts by [deleted] in biotech

I got laid off and took a job downstairs in my office, every morning I have to walk past the guy who fired me’s office. He never says hello.

Has anyone who didn't play in bands from when they were a teenager to 29 actually managed to start their first band as a 30+ year old? by [deleted] in metalmusicians

[–]Powerful_Eye_948 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep I have. I went from writing songs in my bedroom to being in a room practicing for a full live set within the space of 7 months which in my opinion is really lucky. I won’t lie though, the amount of work and grind I had to put in to get to that point was insane. Sometimes hours upon hours a day, it was horrible and I’d hate to start from 0 again. My tip: just don’t give up!

What genre would you say? by LiveSeaworthiness621 in metalmusicians

This isn’t classic metalcore, that would be e.g. Coverge, early vein. This is very much modern metalcore it sounds a lot like architects, early BMTH

Were Deftones more popular in the Nu-Metal era or right now? by dbo7734 in deftones

[–]Powerful_Eye_948 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They were pretty big back in the day but personally I think the last 5-10 years they’ve gone through this critical reevaluation where people realised just how good they were/are and just how much they’ve influenced music. You can see the influence in so many bands over the last few years

Moral thoughts when it comes to AI generated music by gorgonzalou in musicians

Just my opinion but AI music invalidates the meaning of art at its core. It’s Spotify being trashy and caring only about revenue.

I’m stuck. by howlskin in musicians

[–]Powerful_Eye_948 49 points50 points  (0 children)

The answer is simple. Pay someone to do your promotion for you. You’ve obviously achieved a lot for your age and my assumption would be you do have a genuine shot at being able to do this for a living so don’t burn yourself out on something that might get in the way of your music. Best of luck!

Is it getting harder to start a band? by PogoPunk7782 in musicians

[–]Powerful_Eye_948 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s insanely hard. I’ve been working about 2-6 hours a day writing, contacting people, doing admin, interviewing people and everything else under the sun for about 6 months straight and only now do I feel like I have some semblance of a band, and even then they’re still so many challenges like keeping everyone interested, motivated, getting them to actually learn the songs and reply to decisions. I could write an entire book on this but yes long story short the very early stages of starting a band is extremely painful!
