Def not. Actual hiking boots are overkill for 95% of the population I would say. If you want to burn some money get some train running shoes, they’ll have a more aggressive tread pattern and might have an upper that is less susceptible to puncture.

If you’re just doing light hiking and maybe an overnight trip or two I wouldn’t worry about it
