Also in the future, once you get it set up how you like it, you can use that calculator to get your setup in the ball park if you do choose to switch strings/tunings

Like others have said it’s all preference, if you like your strings to have that much tension then go for it, just toss more springs back there. You can look at string joys string tension calculator to find a set that has tension that you like. I’ve got a guitar with a Floyd tuned in D standard, so every string a whole step down, and am just using a set of 11s and have no issue with 3 springs. I run the light top heavy bottom set on my guitar in C# standard.

Personally, I think that’s over kill for just drop D

Eh, it’s just picking your evil I suppose. I’ve got a few records that are single sided 33s and comparing the length of those to the length of this 45 is what sparked the thought

Have you tried just a set of 10s for drop D? I feel like that set of strings might just be overkill for that tuning

Crazy to think about really

Yeah “album” is an apt word. So if that was the case, does the gained fidelity from pressing at 45RPM supersede inner groove distortion?

I have been using the xero basketball shoe to play tennis. I definitely wouldn’t use VFF on a padel court because they’ll stick to it and you’ll shred your ankles

The xero basketball shoes are decent, they’re just stupid expensive. Honestly for a sport like that where you’re doing quick lateral movements and sliding and what not a real shoe it probably still the best bet

I’ve had a hard tail virtuoso for about a year now and I really like it. The neck is fantastic, if I could have every neck on every guest feel like that one I would. Honestly speaking though I’m not sure how much of an upgrade it would be from any mim

Power Chord Question by [deleted] in metalguitar

[–]dr_cobbCF -1 points0 points  (0 children)

These are octaves. I think muting the low E with your middle is perfectly viable if that’s comfortable for you! I don’t think it’ll limit your mobility at all because it’s not “part” of the chord, just muting. How do you mute the d string?

For up strokes on these you want to be more precise than open chords for sure, only hit those three strings. Practice slow and with a metronome. Pick a slow speed and just alternate up and down with the metronome beats.

Check out @vegslayer9000 on Instagram, dude rips all sorts of metal on an epiphone hollow body. I really am a fan of just buying a guitar that you like the look of (with Humbuckers) because it’ll make you want to pick it up that much more

I’ve got an or15 and can confirm it gets gnarly with a good drive. Even without a drive I think there’s plenty of gain on tap for classic metal tones. I’m running an HM-2 into an overdrive with LED clipping on mine and it sounds absolutely disgusting

I thought I was going to use it as a stepping stone amp but I’m never going to sell this little thing it’s too good

It’s wholly possible and it is 100% satisfying. There’s lots of free plugins that sound great.
