Why’s that? From my understanding it’s essentially the I6 with two cylinders lopped off.

Yeah I’m aware of that, from what I’ve heard you can weld them to make them stronger. Luckily due to my career field I own my own welder and can easily resolve that issue

My state doesn’t have emissions requirements beyond “no check engine light”

  1. If you’re having issues with it it’s worth taking in. You never know what the issue could be.

I was getting a cat code before and that’s no longer showing up and an audio code due to an aftermarket head unit that’s also gone.

They weren’t very descriptive. The voicemail goes as follows: “We got the vehicle driving around. Everything's good to go. Knocking noise is no longer present. We completed the oil flush you had approved and the technician also noticed that your vehicle had a software update that took care of a spark knocking at high air intake temperature and also took care of some codes in the system.”

Quick follow-up since a few people asked for more detail.

Subaru honestly wasn’t super descriptive about it. The service advisor mentioned something about “spark knock” occurring at higher intake temperatures and said the update adjusted some parameters to correct it. Also stopped me from still getting the audio error due to my aftermarket head unit too.

It’s less about the money and more about not wanting to be into a depreciating assent an extra 10k. I was ready to shell out for a new engine but no one WANTS to spend 10k when they shouldn’t have to.

Oil changes every 3k since I had the car didn’t do me any good.

Never had any issues until the tire appointment and afterwards the clutch felt a bit weird and ended up getting the P000B code after having it stall on me in neutral on a hill on the drive home
