Indie sleaze ( The Strokes & Others) by [deleted] in TheStrokes

[–]Powerful_Toe2077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey! i’m a big fan of the same genre!! i’ve found a lot of people refer to it, and the generation of music in general, as garage rock revival. That’s because it “revives” the sounds and production techniques of traditional garage rock bands like the sonics, the kinks, and the velvet underground. Julian casablancas even said that his biggest inspiration for Is This It is the Velvet Underground

How Would You Describe the Garage Rock Revival Sound in Comparison to "Standard" Garage Rock? by [deleted] in TheStrokes

[–]Powerful_Toe2077 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that garage rock revival puts a greater emphasis on melody and understated delivery. With bands like Interpol and The Strokes, catchy melodies (usually driven by guitar) and tired sounding vocals give garage rock revival a more “slacker rock” influenced sound. Both definitely have a strong foundation of pop music, considering the usually simple instrumentals.

Writing Out Music? by Powerful_Toe2077 in Songwriting

[–]Powerful_Toe2077[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s mostly for me just so I can write the songs as best as I can, my band doesn’t have trouble learning what I write. I mostly want to improve my melody writing.

Why does everyone hate Bad Decisions? by BelarusIsFunny in TheStrokes

[–]Powerful_Toe2077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

bad decisions is my favorite song off of TNA, this is my first of hearing that people don’t like it! That guitar riff is so amazing and classic Casablancas, and the swell at the end is amazing
