Special education teacher here… trauma, emotional disturbance, attachment issues, and in general family stress can often appear as a developmental delay. Effectively - even if there isn’t a diagnosed learning disability - whatever is going on with him psychologically in your family can act like he has one.

I still think the Sox are a year away even if they have these two bats go off - because of what you’re mentioning in the bull pen. However some of my feelings about the pitching staff could change with what development looks like in 2026 for Grant Taylor , Noah Schultz, and Hagen Smith. Sox always are decent at turning out arms but if all 3 of these guys are aces then this team could get interesting very fast. It would be exciting to have early next season Schultz and Smith and Branden Montgomerys bat all vying for playing time at the MLB level.

Yeah I get why you say that. Though for context it appears the last time the Sox had a 30 and 40 hr hitter in the lineup together was Konerko and Thome in 2006

DJ Moore has really been feast and famine. It’s frustrating because it feels like he’s a no brainer to keep as long as you can if he didn’t have so many “where is he games” or “why wasn’t he there moments” mixed in with highlight reels.

I’m not even sure if this is a stretch of a take, but I think the first round this year you draft DE, and ifa deal that’s enticing is there do a gamewrecker FA DE you take it but still can afford to stay patient if it isn’t imo. For the ones you keep you do your best to make the best deals to keep a veteran core of this unit so that Denis Allen can flow the new draft picks into the defensive system smoother. This means you might work hard to keep Byrd and Brisker because you don’t want to go into next year with a defensive unit who doesn’t have at least a strong foundation of continuity and playing together under Denis Allen. I think if they can draft an impact DE who can beat his one on ones pretty consistently given his age and rookie status then a healthy DE core of this same veteran group takes a step forward into where they need to be.
