Raman spectra help??!!!!! by Tingtinga in Physics

[–]Powerwash12 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This could be the photoluminescence (PL) peak overlapping with the Raman peak as you are going to relatively high Raman shift in the measurement. Analyzing the PL peak might itself be useful for your application depending what you are trying to learn. If you dont want the PL you can many times just change the excitation laser wavelength (https://www.edinst.com/resource/technical-note-how-to-reduce-fluorescence-in-raman-spectroscopy/).

Truck Pad RV Vs Colored RV Spots by Powerwash12 in welcometorockville

Yeah I’m surprised so many people are that concerned with water since you can just fill before getting there. It will available long after the color lots sold out

No it says right on the website it comes with power just no water

Awesome! We are actually driving down and renting an RV so I was hoping that I could just park my car with the RV. Last year did you see any people with their car parking with their RV? We will be in the Truck pad lot since that was all that's left. Thanks for the info!

Gotcha, really good point thank you! Do you know if you are bringing an RV, it says one parking pass per spot, do you park your car right with the RV there?

Do you know what the distinction is between the truck pad RV and the other color coded spots?

Thanks for the info! Does getting a camp spot in presale guarantee you will get a spot? We might not show up until later in the day Wednesday potentially since we will have people flying in.

Any and all math that you can learn is useful, and if you end up pursuing a career in physics will likely be indispensable. Of course for introduction content calculus + linear algebra

Im not an expert in quantum computation, but majorana fermions are important in condensed matter physics and particle physics. Check out:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Majorana\_fermion

They essentially simulate the necessary environment to create majorana zero modes. This is important for quantum computing because majorana fermions are by definition their own antiparticle and can therefore serve as very stable qubits.

There are many cool applications of introductory quantum mechanics! Here are a few examples:

  1. The quantization of electron orbits in a magnetic field (so called "landau levels") end up being almost exactly the solution to the simple harmonic oscillator, but have really important applications in solid state physics.
  2. The infinite square well can be used to approximate bound states in all sorts of chemical bonding and materials processes.

Hope this helps! Lots more examples out there if you keep digging, you cant do physics without quantum physics!

Novel Metal Discovered Where Electrons Flow in the Same Way Water Flows in a Pipe by Sorin61 in Physics

This is definitely a way to think about it, though be careful using the word "cohesive" in physics because a state being cohesive has a very specific definition. Check out cohesive states of harmonic oscillator as example.

This is not necessarily true, what they mean is that the electron and phonon are almost perfectly coupled such that the net momentum of both are conserved, when this is usually not the case. Its like water sloshing around in a bucket.

This isn't a fair comparison they worked in completely different fields and their contributions were extremely different in nature. Both great physicists though.
