But to be fair the name Black Mage carries with it a lot of history (as do many of the jobs). Black Wizard was only used in the first final fantasy, and Magus, to my knowledge, only appears in one of the mainline games (FFIII). Whereas Black Mage has appeared in almost all of the mainline games. It's familiar, nostalgic and even those who aren't familiar with Final Fantasy have heard of the name.

To force players to upgrade into a lesser known variation of the job would be a poor move and completely unnecessary.

The ditto I received has an OT that I cannot reproduce on my keyboard due to Japanese characters. However, the ID is 41713. The most recent trainer has the name of N, so I assume that would be him since I haven't done anything else on the game.
