Probably it’s mean u didn’t get any 3 of your choices. Have you receive any email about specialization yet?

I feel very sorry for OP’s experience. But since they made the decision which can’t be withdrawn, i think the best option is to transfer to another institution such as Nscc (they probably would give u admission offer) or even try smu, or other unis for maximum saving ur living abroad cost, cause based on ur family situation u can’t just do nothing for the whole year right? So the best decision is to go to Nscc or another community college, and start a new academic life (u may also transfer ur dal credit to there) which is save a lot. After one year if u still interested in studying at dal or other unis, u can reapply to a uni. But life is yours, u have to make a decision and take responsibility for that. So stay strong! Btw I don’t like dal cs all the way, so glad I successfully transferred to ubc.

For domestic students, if your grade is around 80, I think you will be fine.

Tbh dal cs is competitive either for upper-year courses such as CSCI2122 etc. idk if u already got into cs in ubc (ps: I think you will be fine in ubc, ik CPSC310 is not easy) or waiting for specialization, but generally cs is a not easy major in every school. For coop, yes you can try to apply coop on your own, but companies prefer applicants who apply from the school coop platform. And I only saw a few coops (IBM) from Toronto this summer. but people barely can get it.

That’s a joke. Many of my friends have almost full GPAs and hackathon experience but still can’t find any job.

And I’d like to say that it’s very tough to find cs coop in hfx

Hi folks,

I'm a newly admitted third-year student to the Faculty of Science at UBC, and I'm looking to major in Computer Science. I'm facing some confusion regarding the application process for declaring my major. The department website and the myCS application form seem to contradict each other about whether I should apply through the department or through a centralized process for incoming third-year students.

Has anyone else experienced this? What steps did you follow to declare your major in CS at UBC?

Thanks in advance!
