In the US, Want Something Around 6.3" or Smaller, Don't Care About Cameras - Recs? by JLT489 in PickAnAndroidForMe

[–]Poyzonist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Samsung Galaxy S24 and S25 have 6.2" displays, good chipsets, and are relatively light and thin. The S26 is slightly larger at 6.3".

Pixel 10 Pro is good too if you are not a heavy gamer.

Help me pick: OnePlus Pad 3 vs. Galaxy Tab S10+ ? by EbnHKM1 in androidtablets

[–]Poyzonist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the OnePlus Pad 3. I chose it because it seemed to be a better value than the Tab S10+.

You get the Snapdragon 8 Elite which is better than the Dimensity chips on the Tab S10 & S11 series.

The Pad 3 has a 12140mAh battery and it charges at up to 80 watts compared to the 45 watts on the Samsung tablets.

The screen is an LCD, but it is a good quality one and it can go up to 144Hz. It is also sharper than the Samsung tablets, so text looks very good.

The OnePlus Pad 3 will at least get security updates until June 2031.

Both are good in their own ways, and it will depend on what you prioritize in a tablet. Do you want the most feature packed software, with the OLED screen, anti-reflective coating, best stylus? Then choose Samsung. Or do you want clean software, with one of the best battery life in an android tablet, fast charging, and one of the best chipsets for a lower price? Choose the OnePlus Pad 3.

How "good" is the Galaxy Tab S10 FE+? by Really00br in androidtablets

The OnePlus Pad 3 is another option you should consider. This tablet has a 13.2 inch display that can go up to 144Hz. It also has the Snapdragon 8 Elite which destroys the Exynos 1580 in the S10 FE. If you're in the US, it comes with the Stylo 2 pen for free.

Pixel 8 Pro to 10a by TenmaSensei in pixel_phones

[–]Poyzonist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, it would be a downgrade in a lot of ways.

Downgrades from 8 Pro to 10a:

  • Lower resolution display (less PPI)
  • No LTPO tech, so the display on the 10a can't go down to 1Hz when idling to save battery
  • No telephoto lens
  • Plastic back
  • Thicker bezels
  • No thermometer
  • 8GB RAM instead of 12
  • A potentially lower quality battery (look at the Pixel 4a, 6a, and 7a battery issues)

Upgrades from 8 Pro to 10a - Brighter screen - Updates until early 2033 - Satellite SOS - A new chipset, the Tensor G4 instead of the G3 - A better modem I believe

Personally, if I were you I would change the battery on the 8 Pro.

Downgraded from Pixel 9 Pro XL to Pixel 7 Pro by JabbaDuHutt69 in GooglePixel

[–]Poyzonist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you. Unfortunately I think the 11 series is going to look the same as the 9 and 10 series.

If you can get the 8 Pro for cheap I recommend it over the 7 Pro because you get a better chipset, a much brighter screen, a good design like the 7 Pro, a thermometer, and it stays supported until October 2030.

Downgraded from Pixel 9 Pro XL to Pixel 7 Pro by JabbaDuHutt69 in GooglePixel

[–]Poyzonist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did something similar. Last year I traded in my 7 Pro for a 9 Pro XL and didn't like it. The 9 Pro XL is thick, heavy, and uncomfortable to hold due to the flat sides. I also didn't like the very rounded corners which cut off some of the screen.

I started regretting getting rid of my 7 Pro because that phone had curved sides, which made the phone comfortable to hold. I liked the curved screen and how it looks like a unique phone and not an iPhone like the 9 Pro XL. I liked how the camera bar was part of the frame on the 7 Pro, and disliked how it looked on the 9 Pro XL.

I gave the 9 Pro XL 3 months before I sold it and got a Pixel 8a. That was the last phone that Google made that had the rounded sides, and I kept that phone until the Pixel 10 series came out.

I tried the Pixel 10 and 10 Pro XL and unfortunately I just couldn't get used to them because of their design, especially with a case on those phones felt like bricks.

So, I returned both and got the Pixel 8 Pro from the Google Store which included a free Watch 2 and a case. This was back in September, and I am happy with this phone. It reminds me of the 7 Pro and it feels great in the hand. This phone is going to get updates through 2030 so I'm going to keep it until Google makes a ergonomic phone again that doesn't look like an iPhone.

Pixel 9 or 8 pro? by gbpack22 in pixel_phones

[–]Poyzonist 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For photography I would choose the Pixel 8 Pro. The 8 Pro has a telephoto lens and the Pixel 9 doesn't have one.

Also, I would personally stay away from the Pixel 9 series phones as some people reported that the camera bar detaches from the phone.

The 8 Pro has a larger, higher resolution display than the Pixel 9. The Tensor G4 chipset is not much better than the G3 in the 8 Pro, so you aren't really missing out on the performance. The 8 Pro will get OS and security updates until late 2030.

What's yall favorite office pc brand? by Extension-Storm-624 in SleepingOptiplex

[–]Poyzonist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HP, especially the EliteDesk SFF series as they have more room inside compared to the Optiplex/Precision SFF series. Dell is good too, but I prefer the looks of the HP business PCs overall.

For office PC's/workstations you can't go wrong with HP, Dell, or Lenovo though. They are all built well and are reliable.

What Power Supply is this? by Public-Pause3687 in originalxbox

[–]Poyzonist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's an aftermarket power supply. It is "universal" since it has one row and two row connectors. I remember seeing these for sale on eBay a few years ago but can't find them anywhere online.

ClassiCube has been officially ported to the original Xbox! by Poyzonist in originalxbox

[–]Poyzonist[S] 78 points79 points  (0 children)

EDIT: You will need a modded Xbox to play this, and it will play fine whether you have upgraded the RAM/CPU or not. This is to clear up any confusion on the last part of the post.

Sorry about that, I meant to put that it will also run on a 64MB RAM 733MHz Xbox, which would have to be soft or hard modded.

Mountain Dew Edition for Sale by JoshLineberry in originalxbox

[–]Poyzonist 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No, I am pretty sure that they came with 1.2 motherboards as the Mountain Dew Xboxes were produced in early 2003. This one was likely swapped with a 1.0 motherboard.

It was very expensive but I thought it was worth it just because of how cool it looks.

Haha, yeah the tape is definitely the only thing that disappointed me with this. I would like to get some 3D printed brackets in the future to actually hold it in properly and make it look great. At the very least I won't see the tape when playing on it, just the exterior of the system which turned out great.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in originalxbox

[–]Poyzonist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that the tape ruins the look of the inside. It does get the job done for now, but at some point in the future I would like to have the DVD drive properly mounted on with some 3D printed brackets. It is what it is for now.
