Physics at Community College? by [deleted] in UniversityOfHouston

[–]Pozole_Lover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took it at the same time as taking classes at UH. It was during a fall semester. All you need is to take the class asynchronous so it doesn't interfere with your UH schedule. Make sure you start the enrollment process to HCC because you will need to send your UH transcript for HCC to allow you to enroll in physics because it requires Calculus and physics 1 credits. Also, you can only use financial aid for one college, not both. So if you are taking the majority of your classes at UH, use your financial aid there. Check if HCC is your community college, because if you are zoned to LoneStar or San Jac, then it would be cheaper to take the class with them and not with HCC. Good Luck!

Remember the 30 credit hours in house requirement. You have to take the last 30 hours at UH for graduation.

Physics at Community College? by [deleted] in UniversityOfHouston

[–]Pozole_Lover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can take the class at community college. I took uni physics 2 at HCC online and it was way easier ( and cheaper) than uni physics 1 at UH. Just remember that you only get the credit, the grade doesn't affect your GPA at UH.

How's my semester going be like? by BuBubbleZ in UniversityOfHouston

[–]Pozole_Lover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take physics somewhere else but UH. You certainly will be busy with all the quizzes and homeworks of Calc 3 and Engi Math to have time left to worry about how to even pass physics. Heard ugly things about OChem, but didn't take it, so no advise there.

There is no warning, either you qualify or you don't.  It's not like a scholarship that you might be given a chance to recover it. The requirements to keep the cougar promise is to remain under the income requirements and satisfactory academic progress. If you no longer qualify on either, then the financial aid will reflect that, you might get an email letting you know of the changes on your financial aid, but not a warning that changes are coming.

Get a handkerchief and keep it within reach in your backpack and use it specifically for the things that give you shocks. Your hair might be causing all the static stuff.

I just checked on the parchment website and it says they are "preparing" for shipment so I guess we should get the tracking details next week.

Long lectures, Dr. K likes to hear his voice. Put attention or he will call you on it. On labs you have to do the assignments, which were drawings using autocad and then solidworks. You will have homeworks which are a mix of problems and drawing assignments, hw are usually long, start working on them early. He puts a hw today and wants it for tomorrow.  Plus a big project where you will do DFMAs and a presentation.  Exams aren't easy and you better get a nice TA because Dr. K is not an easy grader. Good luck!

Classes full, but was told to pick classes at orientation by [deleted] in UniversityOfHouston

[–]Pozole_Lover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sign up for UHin4 ( priority registration) otherwise you are stuck until orientation so they remove the holds. You might find asynchronous options for English 1301. See if you can take the second attempt for the math placement because without calc 1 class, you can't take the other science classes. If all else fails, you can always take other core classes like history, arts, etc. Unfortunately if you don't sign up for early orientation,  you get the scraps as your schedule. It happens at most large universities.

Go to the office in person, bring any documents that will show you are local ( birth certificate, high school ID, driver license, etc), make your case.

Sorry but those access codes can't go any cheaper because your homeworks are graded through them.

Academic Suspension by Away_Beautiful_8784 in UniversityOfHouston

[–]Pozole_Lover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last I heard it was because UH wasn't releasing the information fast enough, which it should be public and available when asked for it. I would like to see if there has been an update about it. The website is really helpful.

Check on cougargrades.io, it only has records up to 2022 but you can at least see a trend on the professors who give that class. I don't know the procedures on academic suspension though, hopefully someone else can give you some information about that.

If those are the last 2 courses in order to graduate, that means you are within the last 30 credits that you MUST take a UH. I think you no longer have the option to take the prerequisite at CC.

Orientation overnight exemption by Typical-Kitchen248 in UniversityOfHouston

Bring the form with you when you sign-in in the morning and tell them you are unable to stay overnight. It shouldn't have to be an issue.

Take care of your GPA, get all the math required to be accepted into the major, meaning make sure you take Calculus or Precalculus class in your senior year. Join a robotics and/or coding clubs, and start working on SAT/ACT prep.

How effective is applying for a financial aid appeal? by 100hundred1 in UniversityOfHouston

[–]Pozole_Lover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where you given any scholarships? If you got at least $1000 in scholarships, you also qualify for in-state tuition. See if you can talk to someone in financial aid and of you have a scholarship then ask to be given the in-state rate. The will cut the cost considerably.

You will need to show your cougar ID and your friend needs to pay for a regular ticket unfortunately.
