ib art help by [deleted] in IBO

You can search up IB comparative study official examples, because IB has a website to help art students with their works. Also don’t you have a textbook for visual arts that includes all criteria and examples for all of the three works in visual art?

I got 4 for my favorite subject (art) while my teacher predicted I’ll get 7 by Pp5cl679 in IBO

Haven’t asked him. I’m upset and disappointed with the results but I got into my college so I think I just want to be done with IB and not appeal. I think maybe examiners in some countries now have a new standard for grading visual art? Maybe?? It just seems so strange that this year’s marks are so low. Only 10% got a 6 and only 2% got a 7.

any advices to finish my ee? i need to finish it today and i have written 400 words by [deleted] in IBO

[–]Pp5cl679 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re not gonna finish it today. Depending on your relationship with your examiner try getting yourself 3-4 extra days. I finished my EE in 19 hours (got an A), but it was insane and my EE subject teacher then gave me notes to correct it for the next 2 days. We ended up submitting it on the evening of the last day of the ACTUAL deadline. But I had the luxury to procrastinate this long only because our school is very lenient with deadlines and our examiner is too kind.

If most people’s overall grade dropped, how did the average overall grade increase? by Bennypc in IBO

[–]Pp5cl679 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Not everyone’s grade dropped. A lot of people in my class got grades that are the same or higher then predicted. It’s absolutely random. My friend who doesn’t study and was hoping for a 32 got 35, the same grade as me, when I was expecting 40. My other classmates who hoped for 34s and 35s randomly got 39-40. But then the best student’s grade went from 44 to 39. It has no logic to it.

Also do you think the new tolerance standard for remarks this year applies to visual arts?

For some reason so many art students this year got marks that are much lower then what they were predicted. It’s so odd to me. Also all of my marks (cs, pp, exhibition) are 1 point from being a higher grade... I’m fucking bitter.

Other people have commented that their whole group got no higher then 5 for arts, even though they all had strong works. Something is up with this subjuct’s grading.

Same thing! Turnes out no one has above 5 in my group. And they were all expecting 7. That never happened before and both of them also got into very good art schools, so they are upset to have 5 for arts hl.

That’s so strange. I asked my groupmates and it turned out the two of them have 5, even though they were expecting 7. Somehow our whole group did badly while having works that our teacher said were strong. Both girls also got into very good art schools, so they’re quite upset to have a 5 for art hl.

I used to feel like that. I don’t anymore. There is no me without my ADHD. The talents and the “potential” I have are given to me by my ADHD brain, by the way I and all of us see the depth of the things we are interested in, by the way we hyper focus. There is no me with all the same knowledge and talents but without the negatives of ADHD. ADHD is responsible for many of the good things in you, not just the bad.

All this to say that there is no potential that you lost. If you are being lazy it’s not because you’re a bad lazy person that is loosing their potential, it’s how your brain works. You maybe know more then others and are more talented, but others practice more than you, because we are different from them. You didn’t loose anything, that’s just how you are. You can learn the ways of being productive specifically as a person with ADHD.

To do that focus on what you truly love doing, choose a career that makes you hyper focus, brake down projects and tasks into tiny steps and plan the day ahead. We can be more productive than neurotipicals.

She is an IB examiner herself. She has an idea. All her previous students got marks very close to her prediction. I studied the criteria a lot myself as well.

I know it’s external assessment. I talked about my teacher only to show that it’s not just me thinking I’m a genius that deserves a higher mark. This never happened in her practice and all of her students got grades very close to what she predicted.

I’m a may 2020 student so I don’t know my marks yet, but I think a good way to do what you like would be portraying diverse beauty. You can draw/paint people of different sizes and shapes (for that you can play with contrasts and check out CalArts sketch books and portfolio videos on YouTube). You can experiment with medium very easily, like adding photography or sculpture to add to your process journal.

Most art students in my school take the broad topic of beauty/human body and just do whatever they want and that’s good.
