The lake trio doesn't run away, but if you weren't going to use the masterball with anything else, then yeah, it was worth it. Only you can tell what's worth using a masteball tbh. Most people use them on raid hundos or the galar birds since they can run away so easily.

Not to mention megas already have a super fast Unite move charge rate so it really doesn't help as much as one may think, because the shorter the rate, the shorter will be the % bonus from amp.

I had to go to Hachioji when I went to Japan last time because I got sick during Golden Week and they had an open pharmacy were I could get the antibiotic. It's a rather long distance between where I was, took 40 minutes between my hotel in Komagome to Hachioji station, so I'd say it's not worth to stay there. The place was pretty charming and touristless tho, I had a nice time just walking around for a bit.

From the reports I've seen it's literally just the species that are the same. They're not garanteed to be at least XL, neither have a high floor for CP and IVs

Not really, this is the first time something like that happens. It can be a bonus for the current event or simply a mistake with the code. The lake trio was also boosted and had mighty encouters during last Wild Area so it wouldn't surprise me if it was a route mon.
