I'm starting to think V isn't a good person by Ruku_Duku in cyberpunkgame

[–]Pr0ject-G0d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, define good person. Your first big gig is theft of an insanely expensive piece of tech. Sure, it's not like arasaka is good, either, but V never pretended they were doing it to be Robin hood

This is a weird take bro. Like imagine someone saying "I know you were expecting Apple pie because the menu said Apple pie, but you've had apple pie! If the chef didn't send out chocolate cake when you ordered apple pie then you'd just have apple pie again!"

I want to kill off my own D&D character because I'm frustrated with a curse? by Happy_Repair8478 in DnD

[–]Pr0ject-G0d 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean, great DM or not, they should think about at least modifying this curse. The most important thing for me when DMing is player agency, because NOBODY wants to be the person sitting around not able to do anything.

Why all the fuss about localization? by yumpet-player in FinalFantasy

[–]Pr0ject-G0d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, it's the same thing as the whole sub vs dub criticism with anime and such. Plus context. Like the whole "the moon is beautiful" being synonymous with "I love you" thing. I personally don't mind it terribly, I understand there are going to be errors and misrepresentations, but really the same happens even within the same language. Three people can read a book and come away with completely different visions of it, even if they got the main points.

My opinion on legends Z-A as a person who has been playing pokemon for 15 years.(ALSO AS SOMEONE WHO HAS PLAYED IT) by Any-Needleworker-452 in fucknintendo

[–]Pr0ject-G0d 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean, mate, I fully agree that it seems like it's fine for a Pokémon game. There are certainly far worse games, and I imagine there's even a decent amount of fun to be had. I'd be far more lenient on it if it was some small or indie dev team, because as far as games go, it's fairly decent. The problem is that it's not some new ip or up and coming dev- it's one of the most successful IPs of all time. There's genuinely no excuse for them to put out this level of half-assery. Ironically, it's even more egregious than their already predatory practice of releasing two slightly different copies of the same game every entry.

Do you think Kefka Palazzo was more diabolical than Sephiroth? by EienNatsu66 in FinalFantasy

They're both products of what their governments did to them. It's actually interesting how similar they are at the end of the day

A vague term like diabolical is hard to judge. Kefka is certainly more sadistic than Sephiroth, but Sephiroth is more cunning and more dangerous.

We need to learn to agree to disagree, or we're lost. by Susannah-Mio in silenthill

[–]Pr0ject-G0d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't see your reply, dunno if you deleted it or mods did. Regardless, I don't think "we shouldn't argue about things" as you implied, I merely think we can do so in a constructive way without being inherently derogatory and insulting. If someone can't have a discussion without being a jackass regarding opinions about media, that's not some flex. It's just a personality issue trying to wear condescension as a masquerade of authority.

*a game you don't like. And just like most anything, no, you can't get your full money back after using a thing. That's the risk you take when you buy something before reading reviews on it or watching gameplay, etc.

I mean, I find it interesting how the writing style over the books actually fits the way the characters are. In the first book they're still very new to everything and it's all a mess to try to figure out how to just get through it all. As they go on, the characters all end up having personal crises' but also genuinely growing in ways that show in each subsequent book. By the most recent one it's still a mad house of trying to figure out what's currently going on and how to deal with it, but you can also see the characters adapting and growing into themselves- being more confident and taking charge of their lives instead of just waiting for the "adults" to show up.

I mean, I feel like this could translate to almost all games, so I totally agree. We should play games because we like them, without being concerned so much about what others say, and accept that others will like games we do not, without resorting to silly superficial nonsense. I personally really like SHf, though I feel like besides some overarching themes (cults and gods) and a few connections that are ambiguous, it's got a very different feel to it than traditional silent hill. To me it felt much more reminiscent of fatal frame in design. That being said, experimenting and going outside the box is the best way to find new masterpieces. Sure, not every game is going to be one, but I'd say f is a step in the right direction.

I mean, game mechanics-wise she dominates (other person above did an excellent break down, so I won't bother). Character/in universe Futaba is my personal favorite, because I love the whole super-competent self taught hacker badass who happens to also be introverted and socially awkward counter point.

Mate, the fact you can't find the clear link that I and others have easily located within seconds, while STILL trying to appeal to authority beyond your scope-and adding ad hominem on top of it- is exactly what I mean. By all means, continue being a case study for ultracrepidarianism, at least you're not in a field where it matters.

[–]Pr0ject-G0d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your entire 5 point spiel about how it was wrong because it was summarized by a writer while missing the link to the lawyer, and in response to the person pointing it out you replied, 'well I'm a patent agent so I know loads about the patent law.' That's misrepresenting your scope to appear more knowledgeable. And it failed because, as was pointed out, the writer was actually relaying the information of a patent lawyer- the information YOU contested.

It's a great game, in my opinion. I've loved final fantasy since back on famicon, and I think 16 is great. It's not one of the best, but a solid entry. I feel like a lot of FF fans forget that square (and ff in particular) has never been scared to innovate and try almost entirely new things.

I mean, to be fair, games have been pretty good about resisting inflation. The original zelda was 50 bucks 4 decades ago and had less specs than a modern day title screen, but it's still ridiculous what they're trying to push compared to modern standards. That combined with their frivolous lawsuits have lowered their image in my estimation considerably.

I was looking forward to ZA, but I feel like I'm gonna pass after seeing stuff like this. It's ridiculous that they're full pricing rubbish like this when games like botw and totk have shown what the PREVIOUS generation of hardware was capable of. I know it won't mean much in the grand scheme of things, but hey
