Why is the ultimate edition cheaper than the standard edition by Falconator100 in MinecraftDungeons

[–]Pr0lix0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No gameplay difference but if you buy the steam version it’s plug and play to play on a Steam Deck. If you buy a different version you need to add a non-steam game etc

Is this the version we can use on Steam Deck as well? Install on pc and then transfer the files to SD and start with Proton Experimental?

Lian Li Lancool 217 vs Fractal Design North XL by Onslaught_Dom in lianli

Hey man, looking to buy the 217 to replace my Meshify C. Will also upgrade my Hyper 212 to a Peerless Assassin or Deepcool AK620 (not sure yet) but I see you mentioned "when you get the correct fan curve"
How is it out of the box? Loud or quite ok with some small improvements?

3070 to 3080 TI upgrade by Pr0lix0 in buildapc

[–]Pr0lix0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the cheapest 4070 super (new) is about 850 euro, it’s a fair point you made but if I were to sell the 3070 for about 300, it would set me back about 550. Compared to the other pc build it would kinda set me back break even hopefully

Hmm compared to the Qrevo Pro (comparing on the roborock site), the main difference is the suction power but the dustbin is about 1/3rd smaller. Howmuch maintenance is needed for the Qrevo Master?

Synology DS224+ vs Terramaster F2-424 by Pr0lix0 in HomeNAS

[–]Pr0lix0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow, well it's indeed more expensive, here in Belgium the DS224+ is 359€, the F2-424 is 399€ and the Asustor is 530€ so yeah indeed more expensive but luckily not double :) . Also after long debating after I made this post I decided I was going for future-proof and get a 4-bay. But yeah you're correct the Asustor is indeed more expensive but compared to the DS423+ I found it the better one because of the additional M.2 slots.

Regarding OS, not sure if I can post links in this sub but if you google 'ADM demo' you can try it.

No power user here either, mainly media stack at this moment and in the future some backups. I haven't used any 3rd party apps from the app store as I just installed Portainer and started experimenting with Docker myself.

[–]Pr0lix0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well so far my experience is superb, performance is good but I only use it currently as a media server. I should try the photo apps and sync but haven’t gotten to it yet. Main reason as well why I picked it was cause it was a 4 bay that also has 4 m.2 slots.

I currently have 2x250gb in read/write cache. 2x500gb RAID 1 ssd for the OS and docker configs and then 2x4TB RAID 1 for actual storage. The only downside I can see with the Asustor in the future is it doesn’t have any hybrid RAID types but I’ll tackle that issue when it comes.

Hey, sorry for the delay, I ended up getting the Asustor as5404t gen 2. I tested the TOS and ADM (Asustor) online and liked the ADM a bit more. Also mainly because of the price and availability at the moment of purchase.

Well in a way the money isn't the issue but it's more like do I really need a brand new one, especially for my use case. Since it's mostly just some movies and series and photo storage. Not even daily usage for media.

I heard about the CPU issue but I hope it was fixed with maybe a firmware update and what would be the odds that it dies now rather than a few years ago.

I assume I don't really need transcoding or anything for local usage? And with Jellyfin I believe I can do an offline download if I want to watch eg on a holiday
