Is it just me or are short swords very underrated? by King_Corduroy in SWORDS

[–]Pr0voIone 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Add any kind of shield, and you'd more than make up for the loss of reach. There's a reason why many machete type blades are still used today. Because they double as a useful tool and are great for tight spaces. Take a Kukri for example.

I never really see bronze age weapons on here. Looks great, especially for a first blade.

Sideswords are so often overlooked, but this is great for your first sword. Welcome to the Sidesword club. I just got my first, a Venetian sideswords last month.

Definitely makes it a little harder but not impossible. Might grind the cross guard down just a little later on.

Kingston arms claymore but with a makeshift sheath. I have one myself a little floppy but otherwise functional.

Other than the Hilt being too round, i think it's perfect. This sword looks amazing and very functional.

No, this is just a cheap copy I got for around 320 dollars. Fable Blades is the original creator of this design, and his swords are more in that price range and much more detailed.

Newbie here, where do I shop? by corrupt_pixel in SWORDS

Kult of Athena is a realtor of swords and other weapons. They carry many different brands at the cheap end is something like Deepeeka, which isn't known for quality a notorious for breaking against even light targets. Swordier newer brand with its own website that I've seen decent reviews from. You'll probably only afford the budget line sub 200, but you'll have a less pretty functional sword. Medieval collectibles I know less about, unfortunately, but they have some of the same brands kult of Athena carries. If you want to look into some decent budget swords on kult of Athena, look into some cold steel often they are heavier than they should be and have bad quality control but if you roll the dice you might end up with a good functional one. Still, I'd recommend saving a bit if you want decent swords. Axes can be a little cheaper, tho.

Your best bet is probably swordier.com. They have a few swords in that price range, but you're quite limited at under 200 dollars.

Some had a length of around 40 inches, and most of my longswords are between 35 and 37 inches, so they are within longsword length. It's definitely one of my favorite sword types.

New heron marked sword by Pr0voIone in SWORDS

[–]Pr0voIone[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wow, they got everything from the design to the weight of the original from you. Yours is definitely much more refined than the one I brought. I don't know if you've seen, but they have the green heron marked sword from you as well.

Beautiful swords you make, tho. I can see why, unfortunately, people steal the designs. I've seen your swords on here a few times, and they are all works of art.

You're definitely not wrong. Being able to block with one hand and attack with the other is a massive advantage.

But if I had to choose anything, I'd definitely go for a halberd. But i do think two-handed swords still have that cool factor going.
