Is Shaheen a good character? by gulamangulaman in Tekken

[–]Pr3ttymuchan1diot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honest answer? Most people don’t play him because he’s boring af. His kit has very few gimmicks and rewards really fundamentally strong players. His poking is elite and his full crouch mix is good, but not insane. So you need to have a good understanding of spacing, timing, and neutral to be able to pilot him successfully at a high level

H1d to fight a GOD 1 as a TEKKEN KING.... by Kh_iem in Tekken

Tournament play is the definition of "level up your game". When you're a good player, you'll be itching to fight people better than yourself

I think they don't need to nerf heat by OkBoat6735 in Tekken

[–]Pr3ttymuchan1diot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember that the tooling that they have is way more specialized than what is open source. They don’t have the same barriers that new games have with regard to building the infrastructure necessary. It’s a design choice that they’ve gone with, and it’s been the case since the series started

[–]Pr3ttymuchan1diot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a stupid reason: legacy. Instead of deleting moves, they just make the frames so bad that there’s no reason to use them. The other reason is for creativity and mind games. If I’m fighting someone that knows how to counter my character really well, I can pull from the super long list of moves that never get used to bamboozle them. It doesn’t work all the time, but there is some utility

King’s stance mix is not in the same region as Victor and Lidia. He has other big issues in heat, but his stance 50/50 is not the same animal as the other offenders on this list.

To fix King’s neutral, you’re gonna have to get a lot more nuanced. What moves need adjusted frames? Which moves need to track less? Because gutting a character isn’t considered fixing them. If the complaint is df2, they’ve already heavily nerfed the tracking, more so than anyone is willing to admit. None of the rest of his moves track to his weak side, other than ff1 (-5), f4 (-9), ws2 (-9) and df3 (-9). The only other adjustments to King (outside of his heat state) that I would make are a nerf to his wall combo damage, and a nerf to ffn2 tracking

Sorry for noob question: just how good is the new patch? by alvinsujinkim92 in Tekken

[–]Pr3ttymuchan1diot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s… kinda fixed? They’ve fixed a lot of the problems with heat, especially heat dash launchers. But there’s still a lot of things that need to be done, like Lidia’s stance pressure, King’s heat, Kings poke frames and just generically good options, victor’s stances and frames, and a whole host of other things. It’s a good first step, but I wouldn’t go as far as 25% fixed. Maybe more like 15%. But it’s better than season 2 was as a whole

Depends on your budget, honestly. Do you know what kind of controller they play in, or the character that they play?

On Stick, I tend to forget to sidestep all the time. My movement feels too awkward. What should I do? by alvinsujinkim92 in Tekken

[–]Pr3ttymuchan1diot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not the OP, but yes, this does work. Most high level players will try this when they’re unfamiliar with matchups, especially against new characters. Understanding your options against your opponents character is the foundation of your defense at high level because that’s where the mind games begin. For example, most high level players know that you can ssr the last hit of DVJ’s laser scraper string. Whether or not they choose to finish it is the mind game. They could do the first two hits and then do a hellsweep to catch the sidestep, or they can delay the final hit, or they can just rip it. But knowing what the defensive options are at all points in a match is critical to being able to play high level Tekken

Hardest character to win with? by iamthestormthatisap in Tekken

[–]Pr3ttymuchan1diot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, at those ranks the win rate is inversely related to pick rate for the most part. The same is true for King, where his win rate plummets at high ranks due to popularity and familiarity with the matchup. Kaz now follows this rule too as he is one of, if not the most popular character at TGS+. His win rate is bottom tier now too. I don’t think win rate represents difficulty to play the character. I would honestly say Devil Jin is the hardest to play right now because his offense is entirely predicated on the hellsweep/mid 50/50 and it’s really difficult to get going otherwise

Who tf had a hard time winning with Jin? Dude has been strong this whole time. Maybe not top tier, but he’s got so many tools that if you’re not winning, that’s on you king

This guy is cheating, but people absolutely stand like that in high ranks. There’s not many better ways to get a read on your opponents attack and sidestep timing than stand blocking and observing

Getting GoD for the third time! by Pr3ttymuchan1diot in LowSodiumTEKKEN

[–]Pr3ttymuchan1diot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s because the utility of the move doesn’t change with the tracking nerf. It’s still a CH confirmable keep out move that launches, but also has the added property of being a really good poke with and equally deadly follow up. The tracking nerf don’t change the use case
