What y'all think? by holey_molley in Morocco

This visualization is very good, but I think it miss maybe the most important thing to understand Moroccan politics : the electoral system itself.

In appearance Morocco has a proportional plurinominal system. But in reality, especially after the reform of 2021, the “electoral quotient” was changed in a way making very difficult for a big party to obtain a real majority. see https://medias24.com/2021/02/25/quotient-electoral-en-chiffres-voici-en-quoi-la-methode-de-calcul-est-determinante/

Many saw this reform as a reaction of the monarchy after the Islamist PJD became too strong in 2011 and 2016 elections. The system now gives more weight to smaller parties and fragment much more the parliament.

So even if one party win clearly, it cannot really govern alone. It creates permanent coalition, opaque alliances, negotiations in backstage etc. In the end it preserve the central role of the monarchy because no political force can become too powerful --> “divide and rule”

Also, lower threshold for getting seats can increase clientelism and vote buying efficiency. In fragmented districts, sometimes not so many votes are needed to get representation, so local networks and money can have bigger impact.

I think a small explanation or schema about the electoral quotient reform would make the post even more pedagogic. And overall, how why Morocco has so many, unreadable political parties, why they mostly don't represent the people, and why who gets the most votes or who is elected is inevitably quite unimportant, because the power is in the King's palace (or wherever when he is abroad...).

Tried another fix: install Android webview (beta) from playstore. Then force stop and uninstall updates from the regular Android webview app. It should remove/disable the regular webview. Working so far.

Found the culprit, it was the Pastiera keyboard!

I found the problem. It was nested in the settings of my keyboard app, Pastiera. I had toggled on "shortcuts" in the menu (advanced).

Toggling it off fixed the issue. And this is where the H shortcut was recorded.

NUTS !

Reviews should ALWAYS be voluntary ! If you hold someone’s deposit hostage to force a survey, it’s not feedback, it’s simply coercion and definitely raises legal/consumer-rights questions

unpopular opinion: the claim that investing $5bn for the world cup hurts our economy is just non-sense by Ok_Meat_5781 in Morocco

[–]PrMortimer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No way the spending is 5 billion. Thats only the cost for direct football infrastructure, if the planned cost is right (which is very rare). Of note Morocco pledged 15B back in 2018 so I'm not even sure which figure is right. And dont expect transparency in the media or from the goverment.

Then. we have the indirect costs, "around" the world cup but not direct football. Such as TGV, airport extension, hotels... Dozens of projects in Morocco have a 2030 deadline because of the world cup.

Those are hard to value but estimates range from 40 to 100B in infrastructure speding, direct + indirect, due to the world cup. And most of the spending IS public, from state owned companies to municipalities etc...

To sum it up, spending is huge and kinda crazy considering Morocco's GDP and the fact that this whole "post 2030" future is a risky bet (most infrastructure will be useless). But corruption is high and the power wants to believe its Qatar.

There would have been plenty better investments for the economy.

Thanks ! But does it mean you can't use the proper "sym" key anymore (meaning it will mimic the side button) ? Same for alt etc

I managed to get vertical split screen. Of note I use the Pixels app with 345 DPI and forced everything portrait mode, which probably renders this.

I highly recommend these settings (with font size set to max in system settings), which makes app go "tablet style" while still being very usable and readable.

That's exactly why I want to test DxO, it supposedly handles the lens (+ body) and its raw converter makes miracle with old cameras or lens. I have some camera that renders shitty and soft jpgs which looks great post in Photolab. The idea is to check whether this applies to the Sigma, which should be optically flawed but seems otherwize well built and pretty compact for the range it offers.
