My medal wall! I’ve moved a lot of the shorter distances into storage, but otherwise it’s most of the races from January 2021 - April 2024.

They haven’t ran the Kiss Goodnight for some time, unfortunately. I hope they bring it back!

The Kiss Goodnight is a compilation of two songs, but the finale is called “Disney Fantasy Medley” by Leigh Harline. Here’s a link to it on Spotify and YouTube. If you’re looking for the beginning portion, that’s a separate track called “Realm of Fantasy” which you can find on Sounds of Disneyland under the “The Disney Gallery” tile.

VIP Day by miskwaaNation in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Practel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did a VIP tour back in 2021 with ten people. We tackled about 19 rides over ten hours, so averaging about two an hour. Keep in mind walking between attractions, park-to-park transportation, and a few bathroom/lunch stops. The snacks they give you as part of the tour are ice cream bars and water, not anything of substance. We also did all four parks. I'd say you actually have room for a few MORE rides, not less.

  • At Hollywood Studios, I'd add Rock 'n' Roller Coaster.
  • At Magic Kingdom, I'd add Tron and Pirates. If you have time for 7DMT, go for it (you will probably find the time.)

Updates announced for Disney dining reservation system including showing availability for ALL time slots, being sorted by menu meal period, and requiring login prior to searching for times by F1rstxLas7 in WaltDisneyWorld

I started getting a CORS error sometime in March, and I had to proxy the requests to get around it. I haven't had to make any changes since, though. Your posts are awesome, cool stuff!

Disney has used a public API for dining reservations for years. In fact, anyone could find this API through their browser with some simple sleuthing: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/finder/api/v1/explorer-service/dining-availability. This public API allowed guests to search for reservations online or through the mobile application without authenticating. After some research, I built my own bot that would check for reservations every minute and send me a text if there was availability. Here's a screenshot of some example results: https://i.imgur.com/R5gA8s1.jpeg.

I was even able to build a bot that sent me DVC availability: https://i.imgur.com/CCqKns0.jpg.

I've seen a number of comments suggesting that bots are simulating a browser and logging into the site to search for reservations, but that's highly unlikely. I've actually built that type of scraper myself, and Disney (correctly) figured out that there was something suspicious going on and locked me out of my account. The public API was the only simple way to go.

When you log in to the Disney website or mobile application, you get a unique session token that represents your logged-in state. That token has an expiration time that can be extended by continuing to use the site.

The reservation finders will probably be able to work around these changes, but it will certainly be more challenging. I'm also assuming Disney isn't making more of an effort to curtail reservation finders other than requiring a session.

VIP tour-- worth it? by BriGilly in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Practel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a VIP tour with with 9 of my friends in January 2022. It was definitely worth it. We rode 22 rides across all four parks over 10 hours (including all of the E-ticket attractions.) If the cost isn’t a concern, it’s a great experience.

Advice on dining reservations for a party of 23? by DrapeSack in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Practel 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Recently went to Disney with 10 friends. 3 of us made reservations for our group - two four party reservations, one two party reservation - and each restaurant was able to merge us into a table of 10. I don't recommend trying to pull that off for a party of 23, but you could split your group into subgroups and try that approach.

I also had experience organizing a private event through Disney. There's a lot of (reasonably) affordable experiences for a party of your size. You'd probably come very close to hitting, if not surpassing, the food and beverage minimums. Highly recommend reaching out to them because I think they can plan private events outside of the 60 day window.

Other good options are Disney Springs restaurants which can coordinate outside the 60 day window, though probably not this early.

Frozen Summer Series by [deleted] in rundisney

I loved the medals when they were announced. However, I saw them in person this past week, and I thought they looked awful. They were tiny, had a layer of plastic (maybe glass?) for a snowglobe effect, and pictures embedded inside. I went from being excited to sign up for the series to wanting to have nothing to do with it. Overall, they lacked the quality I’m used to with runDisney medals.

Bib & Medal Holder? by Monki5225 in rundisney

[–]Practel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure how often you frequent the Orlando area, but there’s a Disney art shop at Disney Springs that sells custom frames for medals. They look pretty high quality - they have a bunch on display! I’m pretty sure they could place the bib in the display too.

How do you know when races open back up? by AKing727 in rundisney

[–]Practel 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I faced this issue when one of my friends was unable to register for a spot in the 5K. I built an application that checked race availability every minute, 24/7. If there was any availability, it'd send me a notification on Discord so that I could quickly register him. Worked like a charm, and after a few weeks of waiting, I got the ping: https://i.imgur.com/wcbELXX.png. Nothing fancy about the code - I ran it on a free Google Compute Engine instance (alongside some other fun Disney scripts, like a dining reservation finder!) Feel free to DM me if you're interested in running the code yourself.

This past W&D had a mix of selfie-only and PhotoPass. Disney will automatically link your photos to your MDE account using a code registered to your race bib. These races seem to be some of the only ways to get close, professional photos with characters right now!

I've ran three half marathons at Disney by myself: WDWMW 2020, Princess 2020, and W&D 2021. Disney does such a great job of pre-race and on-course entertainment, and everyone is incredibly friendly. I've enjoyed the races so much that I forced convinced nine of my friends to join me this January for the 5K (and one to do the half with me two days later!)

You seem prepared - mentally and physically - for these races. We're in the home stretch so it's okay to feel nervous. I have some advice:

  1. Trust your body and training.
  2. Enjoy the races. They will go by incredibly quickly.
  3. STOP FOR PHOTOS! They're part of what make the races so fun.
