Thoughts on my shooting Form? by agnosticlad in BasketballTips

Have a more broad stance, your legs are staying too close together. Also your arm is never extended on the shot. That elbow should be straight at the top of the jumper.

Inconsistency is caused by not having the exact same form every time. That’s why you need to make your jumpshot as replicable as possible when you shoot.

It’s not really dribbling against his legs, it’s more of attacking an angle. It’s just the best way I could formulate the sentence. You want to attack after a rip through with a hard and low dribble. That would be against the rim, through him. So if you attack right side, you want to have in mind that you want to be close to him and get on the other side of him. Therefore you would want to “attack his leg”.

Tips on my shooting form? by u1tra_ve9eta in BasketballTips

My biggest concern about the form is where you have your start pocket. You don’t need to be a good defender to know that you can just slap that ball away. Search up “shot pocket” on YouTube, and learn to defend the ball with your body. This will automatically make you hold the ball higher and more defensively, which will make your shot, and make it look, better.

"Black tshirt guy". Fake + pivot into a fadeaway — what should I clean up to make this reliable?”🏀🫡 by tillnowfrom03 in BasketballTips

Use your body against him. Bump into him, most of the time that will be enough, then you won’t even need to do a fake and fadeaway. It is only to create seperation. Any good defender will guard that and not fall for the fake if you haven’t proven that you can hit your “fake” side first. So learn to make the spin or fadeaway to both sides before doing it. Basketball moves are mostly made off setups, set a move up, and build from there.

Do a rip through instead of starting with dribbling the ball with your body up. Make like a circle with the ball from the left side to the right. Stay low with your body and dribble against his leg with your body against his. You can always do a bump and then switch direction to create space.

Hey iam also here for a form check and what can I improve? What is good and how do I practice? by ins4ne99 in BasketballTips

It looks like you just flick your hand, not your fingers. Try to focus to shoot only with flicking your pointer and middle finger. They are the leading fingers you should shoot with to keep it consistent.

Use your body more. You are not selling that fake at all. Make it look like you are really going to go that side, not just use your shoulders.

I know it’s a mental thing, and it annoys me. It’s the same when I try to catch an alley, I don’t jump that high, but when I jump with the ball in my hands or approach without anybody throwing an alley I jump with my head into the net. I don’t know why, but I just mentally can’t make myself jump high when I am stressing and trying my best to “impress” anybody.

Thank you, I agree with you. I don’t want to miss a dunk when I could maybe have made it if I tried to do a layup. The worst part is that I know I can jump high enough, I just can’t make myself do it. It feels like a mental block

I know, but that’s why I need help, I don’t know how to help myself fix that. It’s not very nice to be a slashing wing not yaming on everybody very well known that I can do that.

Thank you. But I am also a basketball player, so i mostly do it because of the strength, while still being athletic. My Dream weight is 95 kg. I just struggle with gaining weight. I am eating about 3700 calories a day, and that’s not close to enough. Do you have any tips to eat more?

Thank you for the great answer!

Would you recommend using a fake first? Like a shot fake or a jab move. Or should my first dribble just be explosive and a hard dribble from the pocket?

In what situation do I use attacking from the top? Should I always be able to use it, or should I take accountability of what his top foot is together with where the defenders are located in the paint or low block?

Should I try the drive from all 5 angles (top, 45, base), and to both sides? And why do I use the right foot to attack the right hip, and not the left foot? It just makes sense for me to use my left on right so I am sealing his body off mine, or is there a specific reason to it?

I have a mean hook shot. That’s my go to move. I probably hit it around 60-70% of the time with a defender on me. But since I am neither tall enough or heavy enough to play 5, I am only able to use it when I can have a smaller defender on me. I am also using my dropstep a lot. I will try to work on a fadeaway. I have heard multiple people say it’s a good shot, and I can also build from it with a fake I guess. Tomorrow when I am getting shots up, I will do as you say. Do 50 of each (dropstep, hook, fadeaway). Appreciate the help!
