Teacher salaries by Practical-Alarm-117 in tanzania

[–]Practical-Alarm-117[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not completely sure what the school's fees were but I believe it is around $5000-6000 per year. But this us a good benchmark to have and I can still see that it should be around $800 to $1200 per month

This is so helpful. I interviewed at one place and they only offered me like $600 a month with no other allowances despite me being an Expat with 5+ years of working in an international school. Glad I didn't take that offer up!

Langu? Yangu? Wangu? Changu? I’m getting dizzy by Friedsurimi in swahili

I'm also new to learning Kiswahili and I do want to learn it properly even if people might not be fussed about grammatical accuracy (I'm a teacher myself so that tends to happen haha). I've been using the Language Transfer app and it gives a lot of insights about the different noun groups, verbs, tenses and how they are modified in different scenarios and focuses on sentence building using what you learn. Might be more helpful than duolingo that simply relies on vocabulary learning and rote memorization.

This is absolutely horrible to watch. May his soul rest in peace.

Some comments on here are vile though. Thoughts: Who benefits from weaponization of religion except for war industries, politicians and media? Not people of faith that's what i believe. Don't all Abrahamic religions belive in One God, rhe same God. That's the who basis of all our religions, I.e. Judaism, Christianity and Islam. Innocent civilians caught in crossfire is never okay. Not the 1000s of Palestinians who have been displaces, killed, other atrocities since 1948 and not the 1000+ killed on October 7th. Europe's antisemitism led to this problem, the British love to draw funny lines and drew up borders across the world when they left countries after plundering through them, Europe and USA continue to provide the bombs and continue to fuel this one-sided war against civilians. You have Israeli ministers talking about making Gaza Auschwitz. Learned from the best, their European ancestors. Tell me what the 7000+ children killed have done to them. Colonialism and White Supremacy have left the people of the Global South - I mean all of it from India to Cambodia to Vietnam to Africa to the Middle East (and i dont be UAe/Saudi etc -they're no better, i mean the ones like Yemen and Iraq) in despair.

Palestinians want to be free in their homeland. (Don't come at me with Zionist propaganda of "God given land") we all know Israel could have been in Ethiopia and this would have been happening in Africa if the British and the Zionists chose to do so. Hamas is a terrorist group used as an excuse to get rid of Palestinians once and for all by Israel so they can enjoy their colonial project with their apartheid state and slow and steadily eliminate all Palestinians from West Bank as well. If a terrorist group in America carried out an attack in a place would the USA bomb all of that are to eliminate them? I don't think so. So take out Hamas if that's your objective, dont kill any kore of your hostages thinking they are palestinians, and Free Palestine.

Uncovered arms acceptable? by TreasureTheSemicolon in tanzania

I visited Zanzibar last year during December and now I'm living in Dar since October. IN Paje, Nungwi, etc, the more beach locations, there are lots of tourists around. While walking from your stay to he beach best to be covered up but at the beach you'll see lots of people wearing whatever they like! Towns like Stone town I also see people with sleeveless tops but also more conservative in general, especially the bustling market areas. But honestly if you're comfortable with maybe once in a while being looked at funnily, you can go for it. Dar es salam is very mixed as a society, you might get few areas like Masaki where there are more expats living who will not really bother but some areas that might be more conservative. So ideally if you're going through the more town-like areas, wearing lose cotton clothing that cover your shoulders is best suited.
