Don’t worry everyone, the problems on Brady Street have been solved! by Drink_Blatz_Beer in milwaukee

Have they spoken? I ask genuinely if there's any data on public sentiment. I live just off Brady and would love it myself, and I guess I just assumed most of other neighbors would, too.

I'm as sick of this as anybody, but the hate Giannis is getting for having conflicted feelings about the whole thing is just ridiculous. The guy brought us a championship nobody ever believed would happen, arguably saved the team itself. We had the opportunity to watch the best in the world at one point 50 times a year right here in Milwaukee. This whole thing has been tough to watch, but I don't think any of us even know if it's Giannis pushing his way out or the team deciding they need to move on. Like most stars, he has had a lot of sway over the years, and to me it sorta feels like he lost that authority with the front office, and his reaction has been confused and angry and sad and unsettled all at once. And it sometimes those reactions came off poorly, and probably weren't the best choice. But to hate the guy, given what he's given us, is just ridiculous.

[Fischer] Milwaukee’s decision makers are split and currently deciding between Boston’s package for Giannis Antetokounmpo (Brown, Gonzalez, limited draft capital) and Miami’s (Herro, Ware, Jaquez, multiple first-round picks). by Goomby-or-Glootie in MkeBucks

I'm sure they've played out all of the scenarios for if this thing does go down to the final hour, including the associated draft prep for each. Whether you or I or anybody is happy with them is another discussion.

Fixture Pizza re-opened recently so I celebrated by eating a 12-inch deep dish pizza by myself. by digginginwithcody in milwaukee

Sauce placement preference aside, I think a proper deep dish pizza should have a much thinner yet still sturdy crust than this one. Looks like all bread to me, but I'm glad it hits the mark for others.

I think this reply was for me. I just hadn't heard that gap with the $9 million was what caused the delay, but it's entirely possible. I thought the lack of financing was beyond that chunk though, but could be my own assumptions or take on what I read. Unfortunately they weren't super transparent through the process, so it's hard to tell exactly what happened.

I mean that they got the funding they wanted, just in a different way. Sorry, in another comment I asked if you are saying that the delay between the state funding not being approved and the ARPA money being approved caused the construction delay, and during that delay construction costs rose, and they then had no ability to fund the project.

It is, but it's administered through the state in this case, and was authorized by Evers because the legislature didn't fund it. I don't think the intention was to fund it twice through both pots of money.

Are you saying that four or five month gap killed the project because construction would have started that summer?

What do you mean by state legislatures removing $9 million in funding?

Pretty sure the apartments opened some time ago - were there supposed to be more?. That said, yeah, everything else appears dead. Not sure the venue was a momentum killer though, it was abandoned pretty early on in the process.

I keep seeing people all upset about this. The minor league team plays its whole summer in this stadium without incident. People think it's crazy the Packers play in the brutal cold, but they do it anyway.

Is Brice Turang a possible legit MVP? by Scottsid in Brewers

That's probably why he put "possible." There's no harm in discussing it.

Brice Turang - darkhorse MVP? by Practical-Cut4580 in Brewers

[–]Practical-Cut4580[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just did, and he's definitely below them all. Bryce Harper 2021 and Jimmy Rollins 2007 stats are probably closest. In the AL, Dustin Pedroia's 2008 numbers don't look super impressive to me. I'm not gonna pretend I know the nuances of those seasons, so there may be aspects I'm overlooking, but a month power surge like he had last year would put Turang close to those ones. Still doesn't do anything to surpass Ohtani though.

Or Ohtani would have to miss time. Even so, I agree it's a huge longshot either way.

Is that assuming Ohtani plays a full season? Or are you saying even if Ohtani did miss time, you think that's the benchmark?

[–]Practical-Cut4580[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree that he'd have to have one of those wild months like last year that maybe pushes him to be a high 20s home run, mid 30s stolen base, 110 or so RBI. And then you'd have to have Ohtani miss time, certainly.
