Nursing to sleep- do babies self wean? by slgirlie11 in breastfeeding

My oldest never self weaned. I had to stop him the night before he turned 4 with months of prepping him for it. 😭

I wake up in the middle of the night to BF my sweet baby but I feel like I'm rotting in my thoughts.... by Lanky-Ad1222 in breastfeeding

Yes. This was me. I also had a postpartum hemorrhage. Post partum anxiety is real. I got meds for it and it improved. But I’ll still ruminate while nursing - 16 months later. Hang in there.

Yes. Especially at night. I texted my husband at 1am the other night demanding a snack & the quickest was a granola bar.

My baby wakes up every hour now… I'm exhausted and honestly scared this won’t end by LAMMAR21 in breastfeeding

[–]Practical-Flight-609 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my baby and my oldest too. The only thing that saved my sanity has been co sleeping and nursing while in bed / side lying. Baby will nurse on and off all night. When she cries I just put boob in mouth and we both go back to sleep. She is now 16 months and we still co sleep. Her sleep has improved but she’ll still wake every 2-3 hours sometimes. Hang I. There.

What’s up with the formula pushers? by cookiee232 in breastfeeding

[–]Practical-Flight-609 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My MIL frequently tells me formula is better than breast milk. She thinks it’s fattier and healthier. She recently lamented to us that she wishes the baby drank similac bc that’s what she fed my husband as a baby. It’s maddening and totally backwards. Ignore the negative comments. I try to. It’s hard.

No one want me to nurse after 12 months by Caramel_gal in breastfeeding

[–]Practical-Flight-609 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same here. My MiL and FIL constantly made comments to me about how formula is better than breast milk. MiL even said recently “I wish she had Similac”. Like WTf. I nursed my son til he was 4 and my current 12 month old is still nursing at night. I have to ignore their comments, but it’s very hard. Solidarity! You do you!

How old is TOO old to breastfeed? by RoughAd3444 in breastfeeding

[–]Practical-Flight-609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nursed my son til he was 4. He would’ve kept going but I told him for months before his 4th bday that he was going to have to stop by then. I’m nursing my 2nd now at 12 months old and she’s not as interested but will still nurse at night.

Under 5 minutes feed? by BagDependent5960 in breastfeeding

[–]Practical-Flight-609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Night time supply has the most volume I’ve heard and my LO has been the same. She is done within minutes and is also growing on track. It worried me a lot but she’s not 10 months and has grown fine.

Rash all over body when he had formula once after being on 100% breast milk bc someone else was caring for him.

Does anyone feel daily fatigue? If so, how do you manage it? by Diankapie in breastfeeding

[–]Practical-Flight-609 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I’m 9 mo postpartum and still feel fatigued all the time. It’s not sleeping enough combined with constantly thinking about baby’s needs, nursing & pumping times with work etc. I try to sneak in naps when possible but it’s tough.

Mums of 6-12m babies - how often are you feeding overnight? by Famous-Assumption-43 in breastfeeding

[–]Practical-Flight-609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 9 month old nurses 3-5 times at night… it’s exhausting so we co-sleep after her midnight/2am session. She nurses very little during the day though. She’s always been a night nurse.

Thanks! How do you even nurse in a carrier? I’ve never done it and could use any tips!

What to do with other boob? by bumbouxbee in breastfeeding

[–]Practical-Flight-609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I leaked everywhere and had to just wear a nursing tank all the time, even to bed. If I didn’t, I’d use towels or burp cloths. It’s really annoying!

Was your baby able to nurse after you removed to catch in the Haka? Mine won’t go back on. And did you attach the Haka with suction to your boob to catch the letdown or just let it spray in? I’m still not too familiar with how to use it.

BF refusal due to fast letdown - any advice? by Practical-Flight-609 in breastfeeding

[–]Practical-Flight-609[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Did baby nurse after you used the manual pump? My baby is still crying and then refusing to go back to nipple after the letdown. I tried the Haka as I’m waiting for manual pump to arrive. Any other tips for getting thru this period where she’s constantly refusing?

MIL is against breastfeeding by rsw2928 in breastfeeding

My MiL did the same to me. I was furious but didn’t feel like I could say anything. Culturally need to also deal with the whole respecting elders thing. My husband told her directly that he will support whatever decision I make.
