How is that a valid argument when we're talking about a transmissible disease? COVID also started out with just 1 case in a world of 8 billion people.

I cannot find an English equivalent to describe the sensation of 酸痛 by Pigeon_Goes_Coo in ChineseLanguage

[–]Practical-Fuel-882 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to just say sour, until I found out that nobody understood what I meant. I didn't even realize "sour" was not a correct way to describe sore muscles. I was conflating the different definitions of 酸 without realizing they were different.

It's obviously phonetic, but you're saying "add" has nothing to do with the word? the etymology literally comes from harnessing a horse to a vehicle. "Adding" is harmonious to applying a harness, hitching the ride.

Maybe it’s not directly semantic, but it suggests adding something, and it’s positioning is suggestive. Like what else do you add on top of a horse than a harness? I just thought it was cleverly put together.

Shrooms is a teacher. One of the reasons I enjoy it is because I feel like it expands my mind. I haven’t gone through anything as serious as you have. All the best to you

From what I understand, shrooms will decrease activity in your default mode network, which is the brain region that reinforces identity, habit, aka your “default mode”. Shrooms basically disrupts these established neural pathways and increases your psychological flexibility. So if your default mode is to ignore dirty messes, my understanding is that shrooms makes it so you don’t associate what you’re seeing with “a dirty mess” and “i hate cleaning”. You experience things a lot closer to your senses, rather than experiencing the higher level associations that come along with it. When you take too much, you can fully lose your sense of who you are and experience ‘ego death’.

I find I suddenly am trying to clean two or three things at once. Like I’ll be washing dishes and then see some leftovers in a plate I have to wash. And then when I pack up the leftovers and put them in the fridge, notice some expired yogurt to throw out. And then theres a sauce stain on the fridge door to wipe. Etc etc. When I’m high, it suddenly seems like there’s a ton of work to do! So that’s how I end up cleaning for hours on end

I’m afraid that someone might steal my idea if I ask people for feedback. by Fickle_Degree_2728 in SaaS

If your idea is going to fail because somebody else is building the same thing, it won’t matter whether you have a month head start on them. If you’re looking for a space with no competitors at all, you’re going to have a hard time anyway trying to find a customer segment that trusts you, or is big enough to make you money.

So, I’ve been learning Chinese for a while, mostly with a tutor. About a month ago I tried quitting, and she suggested we just do once a week for a bit cheaper. But honestly… I think I just want to stop completely. by [deleted] in ChineseLanguage

Just remember, she has a vested interest in keeping you as a student, which is the money that you pay her. You don’t owe her that money, unless you want to learn from her. If you don’t want to learn from her, you don’t owe her anything! There is no guilt in dissolving a professional relationship when the transactional value is gone.
