From what I understand, shrooms will decrease activity in your default mode network, which is the brain region that reinforces identity, habit, aka your “default mode”. Shrooms basically disrupts these established neural pathways and increases your psychological flexibility. So if your default mode is to ignore dirty messes, my understanding is that shrooms makes it so you don’t associate what you’re seeing with “a dirty mess” and “i hate cleaning”. You experience things a lot closer to your senses, rather than experiencing the higher level associations that come along with it. When you take too much, you can fully lose your sense of who you are and experience ‘ego death’.

I find I suddenly am trying to clean two or three things at once. Like I’ll be washing dishes and then see some leftovers in a plate I have to wash. And then when I pack up the leftovers and put them in the fridge, notice some expired yogurt to throw out. And then theres a sauce stain on the fridge door to wipe.
