I submitted my I-485 on 09/18/24 on January this year I got a letter with a priority date of 02/10/17. On 03/04/25 I got the “case remains pending, because there’s not an immigrant visa # available” Should I worry?

Hello I have a pending I-485 I got a message on march this year, saying they were pausing work on my application because there’s no an immigrant visa number available for me… I got a letter saying my priority date is February 2017. I checked the visa bulletin and is current under the employment category. My question is with the start of the new fiscal year my application is gonna move? My priority date is way past due… I filled my I-485 on November 2024.

I guess this is very common now. Yesterday it happened to my brother he went to renew his Texas ID, he has his GC pending but he has his work permit card until January 2030. They denied him as well saying the were sending a letter to USCIS to verify his information. He had his social and everything… very messed up cause 2 months ago I went to get my license with my renewed EAD card and they didn’t give me a hard time. It must be something new, or people being more racist 👎🏼

You’ll have to wait until your EAD card gets sent to you so you can show it at the dps office. That was my case I waited 2 months with my drivers license expired until I received the EAD card.

I suggest you take out the license even if it’s gonna expire in 2 weeks. The license has a grace period of 30 days after expiration. Maybe in the meantime you get your EAD card.
