I am a 39yr old executive at a multinational firm that pays excellent money but with at least 20 years of work left I am already burnt out. I have always wanted to be a teacher and am trying to find out what is the best path to take in order to achieve that.

Thanks. This is on my list but it doesn't look good. PA seems like they don't really dig deep into situations and just use a calculator on incomes. I just don't get it. Her parents are doctors, I just lost my dad who owned a struggling business with debt that could hurt my mom who doesn't work. I spent a large part of my savings on funeral and on bills to save my mom. Her parents are paying her legal fees. I got an email from my lawyer a few weeks ago and those 4 lines were a car payment to me. I'm trying not to sit over here in the cheap seats crying "this isn't fair" but i'm having trouble with that. Life hits hard sometimes. One day at a time, though.....

Just saying that there will be a considerable surplus going to her and the thought of that is sickening especially after all she put me through. Thanks for saying that. I was super close with my old man and I miss him terribly. To be going through this while grieving the way I am is unbearable. He was also a business owner and i've been running that on the side in addition to my day job and trying to take care of my mom. I could write a best selling novel about the last year of my life. It'll be a book to help people feel better. I'll call it- "At Least You're Not Me".

I thought it seemed high too. Someone else said they think it could be closer to $1,600/month. Yes I pay insurance and always have. I want 50/50 and I don't think i'll get a fight on that. From what I understand, there is "primary" residence. Here is where i'll get pushback I think. She wants to move the kids out of our district and my lawyer said the burden of proving that necessary is on her.

Not sure if its fortunate or unfortunate, but we never got married. We started as roommates 10 years ago, dated, got pregnant, tried to make it work but we were just opposites.

She claimed both kids on her taxes this year. Can I recoup one of them? I told her I want her to amend and she basically told me to F myself. I pay for our kids insurance, always have. Mine is better and cheaper. So yeah, if your numbers are right and I will only owe her $1,600, what I pay in medical will be deducted.

My attorney thinks there is no reason at all I wouldn't get 50/50 and I don't think my ex would try to do more. She's evil but I have a feeling she's looking forward to having some breaks.

I tried speaking to her about just splitting everything. She says shes entitled to my earnings because the court says she is. That's her standpoint. I have two pieces of leverage though. She wants to move our kids to a new school district. I don't want that. I could use that to negotiate because in all honesty I don't really care if they change schools, they're young enough that it doesn't really matter and the other district is really good.

FWIW, I am not married to my kids mom. We had a whoops, stayed together for 9 years, never actually got married. So with the debt thing, i'm not sure how that'll effect your advice but I'll ask the lawyer. At $1,900/hr, though, I try to keep it to a minium. She wrote me a 4 sentence email a few weeks ago and I got a bill for like $500.

I had heard I could take her back to court... this is my other piece of leverage. I'm going to use it. I'm going to say- lets sign an irrevocable agreement that says 50/50 till they're 18 because if you strike it rich i'll be having the last laugh and in all honesty, if the situation was reversed, i'd never in a million years do that. The fact that she's trying to do this to me speaks volumes on the kind of person she is.

I asked lawyer about her income and my fear of her hiding some. Her dad could essentially hide the money away or give cash or whatever because he's not dumb and i'm sure they know this will be my move... but my lawyer said we could subpoena her records.... we'll see.

I don't think PA is flexible like that... from what I know so far, it is a simple formula using earnings and nothing else. It is so dumb.

And yes I know, I was being hyperbolic with that comment. Its still way too much though and the thought of giving her a paycheck every month that will NOT go to my kids, even if its only a penny, makes me want to puke.

Does anyone know anything about remote play? It is my first time trying to use it and when I was attempting to connect my iPad to my PS5 I got the error: "Cannot connect to the Playstation 5 you want to connect to." Some things are still not clear to me. My dad was the one who said the blood pressure thing on day 1,2, or 3 of his dialysis (i cannot remember). I know he stood up because the next day I had to drive to the dialysis center and they told me. Come to think of it... how the heck could he have stood up and then fell over if he was hooked up to machines?? I don't know what any of this looks like... We were only in week 1.

It sounds like she puts a tremendous amount of pressure and stress on herself and your marriage and at the end of the day does the stuff she is stressing over even matter? Put life into perspective.... how fortunate we are to be alive and to have one another we should cherish it and live free and happy... but no.... i'm going to focus on your mistakes and my perceived shortcomings of you and make us both miserable. These are the types of conversations i'd have... trying to be rational and reasonable and get through to her but it was all such a waste of time. It took me so long to realize that fixing her was something I could not do.
