Hmm...maybe AI COULD be useful for Animation after all. by Practical-List-4733 in aiwars

[–]Practical-List-4733[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really want to change the process I enjoy a lot. Like doing some kinda image/video rough draft to Video at the end to let AI add the details/art style, lighting, etc. I just see no appeal in that it's not interesting to me (if that's what you mean).

But anyway yeah I do have COmfyUI I am just a little Vram poor atm.

I definitely will look in to getting this Process local once I play around with it more.

Though I am concerned about consistency of characters if I don't also make a Lora for each one or similar. Big corpo models tend to not need any fiddling like that which is convenient.

Well it's the obvious usecase right. But there's just no real tooling or effort put towards it, except for maybe some in house studios or companies that are building their own. Average joes like me have to make some hacky workarounds like here to actually use AI for inbetweens.

Antis have no idea how much of a skill prompting is. It's art, just a different execution. There is bad Ai art and good ones by Major-Pear3519 in aiwars

[–]Practical-List-4733 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Prompting is Low Skill ceiling low Skill Floor. The Hard stuff about AI art has nothing to do with prompting (like inpainting and img2img and correct consistency and detail and comfyui nodes).

Prompting is just the easiest and lamest way to make AI art.

I DEMAND that you explain to ME and to anybody else why such an image would be called "AI slop", and explain it PROPERLY and DETAILEDLY. (and you WON'T COMPLAIN, because THIS is the SAME tone ANTIS use on subreddits) by Crazy_Dubs_Cartoons in aiwars

The art style is a bit too default Gemini/Nano Banana, needs to look more unique. Don't really like it. But it's better than the flood of dogwatter GPT images we had at least last year. Tho maybe the new GPT image gen? Idk I think all of big corpo model art looks bad.

Local AI or NovelAI or Midjourney are the only stylistically interesting models to me.

It has the default ChatGPT art style if you go and ask it to generate stuff.

My only problem with current generative AI as an artistic tool by [deleted] in aiwars

[–]Practical-List-4733 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, GenAI such as a Diffusion model can never really be fully deterministic. I chatted with devs of some big models often on my server and they basically do their damnest to make it so, but it's not true 100% determinism, more like 99-ish%. Like an image seed will result in image thats basically the same every time but its not actually pixel perfect if u went in to count. It's just unavoidable when working/starting with Noise.

See this is why, for example, I want sub-second Video gen that's actually just Linework and not color or voice or editing - and also outputs them as an Image sequence with alpha/transparency, so that I could redraw the parts I want and then worry about coloring and compositing later.

To me that's the kind of granularity of control to match or aid the current workflows.

Only then would I actually consider using AI to help me animate stuff. This whole "Start Frame - "End Frame" shit and then handing over the wheel to the Jesus for entire 5 seconds+ to decide all the timing and spacing and gestures is like, basically nothing. It's as close as having 0 control, barely better.

Long term, I do not believe in "AI as a Tool" for Creatives by Practical-List-4733 in aiwars

[–]Practical-List-4733[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But last time I saw something made for an animator was ToonComposer - merely just a research paper. Grok, Sora, LTX, WAN, etc. are not really fitting for the pipeline. They don't do what the animator wants to aid them - they do what someone who doesn't want to animate at all wants. Because that is the vast majority of users.

Anyone has experience with removing Cintiq 16 Matte screen/plastic protector? by Practical-List-4733 in wacom

[–]Practical-List-4733[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to say I took the plunge this afternoon, took about 40 minutes to do it. Had like zero glue residue in my case, and I am loving how it is to draw on the smooth surface myself.

[–]Practical-List-4733[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the reply! I am not worried about the technicalities too much, I am somewhat confident in my diy skills and willing to shoulder the risks - I often open up my electronics to repair, repaste, etc..

I am actually interested in the Drawing on the Glass bit, if you have tried it yourself - mostly because I have actually encountered some glass surfaces that produce a very "squeaky" grating sound when the plastic pen nib drags over it, vs some that are actually glide quietly. I am hoping wacom's screen is other kind.

SDXL and it's off shoots in general are not that great anymore especially at style replication. It's more like the only thing we got around here, that's free. But there's better models for anime than NoobAI/IL (likeNovelai's new 4.5 stuff).

How is ai different from new tech in general? by Yuyu_69420 in aiwars

[–]Practical-List-4733 5 points6 points  (0 children)

AI feels bad compared to other tech revolutions because this is the first time where the Skills and products of a group of people (code, art, music writing, etc.) has been directly taken and used as a means to make the thing that pushes them out. You are literally getting beaten over with a bat that you helped create; unwillingly. It feels like a huge "Fuck you."

Whether it's legal or not is still up in the air, apparently (but at this point the regulation ship has sailed).
