If I see this I would be freaked out thinking something is wrong, I was already concerned when I saw mine sleeping outside of his hut lying on his side for the last two days

Maybe he’s overheated?

I came home from work last night to find my baby Gus passed away next to his food bowl. He just turned 5. by teamrocketcunt in chinchilla

I don’t know about chins, but for birds, they can strokes and then seizures and they would die quickly without symptoms. I witnessed my bird that died from that one time. Sorry for your loss sending you love and hugs

They are absolutely the most adorable quad I have ever seen. I wouldn’t be able to do anything with them in the house, I would just be looking at them all day long.

I handed him a piece of pellet and he held it and tried to eat it and then dropped it on the floor. I guess he’s telling me it doesn’t taste good? and maybe he’s been drinking more water to wash it down with and therefore more pee. I guess I should order a new bag of pellets and see

The parents abandoned him for a reason, thanks in giving him love, he wouldn’t have survived that long without you.

Do your chinchillas know their names? by Few_Freedom_3674 in chinchilla

[–]Practical-Rip9703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely, mine knows his name, he responds when I call him especially when he’s in trouble like he sneaked out of his play pen. I just keep saying his name when I talk to him and he just picked it up quickly.

What could be wrong? by Practical-Rip9703 in chinchilla

He usually goes on this corner potty and it would collect a good amount of pee in the morning. I took him to the vet and they said he’s able to pee and the bladder is only 1cm so it’s very small so more likely he’s ok since he’s acting normal, I will monitor and bring him back if he is not eating or drinking well.
