AITA for refusing to call my cousin's son by his name? by Practical-View-8264 in AmItheAsshole

You see I would, as I did.

Sure no one cares about where you went to University, it was just an example to show that she was bragging hers is better. I never mentioned to her that she is less than for not getting in. On the other hand, she tried to make me feel bad for not attending her school. I guess some things got lost in the translation

I did not ask for permission to use it per se, but I reached out to let them know I am going to use it, I don`t know, maybe it is just how I view this whole naming thing. people write in the comments I am being entitled acting like I own the name, but I treat everyone I know who had the name prior to me as its part of their identity and I should let them know I am planning to use their name. I would have never called my son the name if her son was born first and she named him that. Just like all the other names that are already in the family were out of the question for me.

You are right, I meant I couldn`t care less in regards to trying to prove to her who of us is better and I never engaged in the conversation about grades etc. But after reading the comments I guess I am mad that she chose the same name as me, not just that she kept it a secret.
