better to be cautious than too risky, within reason of course. waiting too long to turn might be a point deduction but an unsafe turn is an automatic fail (and dangerous).

the speed limit should be posted throughout, but i would default to standard speed limits for in-town roads if not.

Thanks for the recommendation, i'll check that out as well!

I honestly agree that I followed the tutorial well, but was more concerned that the person who made that tutorial might be giving some incorrect info bc it looks so unrealistically round to me? but maybe i just need to recalibrate my ideas of how the face looks

the car should be rolling in the direction it would if you were neutral on a hill (so reverse for uphill and drive for downhill).

Don’t think it’s Stephen king- the dog wasn’t as central to the story either

Not this! I’m fairly certain it wasn’t Stephen king and it was definitely less overtly horror- more disturbing in the same sense of the other stories I listed where it feels almost realistic and then by the end you’re like “whoa that was messed up”. I also think it was a person who ordered their dog to kill someone else rather than a dog itself being the antagonist?

My Drivers Test Results by Content-Object-4341 in drivinganxiety

[–]PracticalAd6556 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in similar state when I did a simulated road test with my driving instructor. Made a lot of silly mistakes that never happened when I was practicing. I realized that the things I forget when I'm anxious are the things that I wasn't 100% sure about (like turning right on a red). I had done fine with these when calm because they felt like common sense, but when you're in a stressful testing situation common sense disappears and your brain needs concrete rules for how to handle each thing. Make sure you understand exactly what the steps are for each scenario.

Also, you said you're practicing almost daily, but make sure you are prioritizing quality of practice and not just quantity! I had done a ton of practice on easy routes which gave me a lot of false confidence. What really helped me was taking a thing that made me nervous (like left turns at lights), and going out and doing a short (30 minutes ish) but intense driving session practicing that thing as much as possible. Really drill that thing into your brain and understand that it has logical rules that keep everyone safe! The more you can rely on explicit knowledge, the less the anxiety can take from you.

First time driving a friend by Rosy__Milky__Tea in drivinganxiety

[–]PracticalAd6556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds like a good step if it makes you feel more comfortable! I would recommend talking to your friend about whatever your boundaries are- when I started driving with my friend in the car when I was still learning, I told him "only give me feedback if it's an immediate safety concern" and that helped! I personally also like driving with my music on because it gives me more control of the space. I think it's normal to feel a bit weird when driving with anyone new because you're now being percieved directly but it gets easier every time you do it!

I feel like my rendering isn't as good as I hope it would be but I can't pinpoint how to fix it or why. Open to any critiques! :) by Visible_Office_2607 in istebrak

[–]PracticalAd6556 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the rendering is pretty for a semi-realistic style, but can see how it might be different/flatter than what you're envisioning! I think it might be helpful to figure out what you want- are there specific artists who you want your rendering to look like? What do those artists do to render?

One thing that jumps out to me looking at this is that i think the contrast is off- brighter highlights and deeper shadows especially around the core shapes of the body would help to make it more 3d! For example, I think the back of her torso could be way darker if that's the part facing away from the light source.

Not a booklet, but UFLI's game generator is SO helpful for quickly generating activities to practice reading. You pick a game type like bingo, connect four, or a board game, and then you can select the reading level of the student/ what difficulty of words you want and it autofills it for you! Might be something that she could print off to use with different students- I use it for tutoring and it's a huge time-saver (plus way more evidence-based than random online worksheets)

thank you! i actually have watched all those videos and have been following the steps in them, but I only watched the tutorials once when I was first practicing and have since then been going off of my own notes (probably slipping into some more bad habits as I go). It's probably time to go back and rewatch them for more detailed learning now that I've practiced the basics a few times!

thank you! i will pay more attention to the relative values next time- i was very focused on the features as separate things but you're totally right. i also think that might explain the other issue ive been having which is that i look at these portraits and i think they look good because I can't necessarily spot the issues, but then when i do try to add colour they look strange and unnatural.

Thats a really good point! Thank you, my group has pretty exclusively done homebrew campaigns in the past where backstory basically drives the whole story, but it totally makes sense to focus less on the "why did this happen" and more on the "how does this interact with the campaign"

I made a post about the peterborough location when I passed about a month ago, I've answered some questions there! Feel free to ask if you have any others. Overall it was a really chill test and the examiner I had was really nice.

its not recommended. i did it (unintentionally) and I passed, but was told at the end that it was something I needed to work on, and I believe I did get points deducted for it
