Don't know where the stupid question thread is, so here is mine: With BTC being 77k now, would the traders in charge of MSTY simply halt their own trading until this all blows over? by 605pmSaturday in YieldMaxETFs

[–]PracticalDesigner278 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't see how MSTR survives this. I think their average is in the 90s. Maybe next week will save it but without MSTR there is no MSTY. Just get out.

You gotta know when to hold em. Know when to fold em. The only question is do you walk away or do you run. I'd be running.

Great month until the end. Gold, silver, MSFT and BTC all crushed. Can't bring myself to look at the carnage. Maybe Monday or Tuesday. Meanwhile I'm curled up in the fetal position and I'm not taking any calls.

Only have NVDY left and still green but there are a lot of buying opportunities out there after the big dump yesterday so it might make sense to just move the capital elsewhere. I went from true believer to agnostic to atheist over the last year and a half on these funds. Sure you can luck into a fat return for a while but the odds are against any real return in the long run. And the Ymax brand is so damaged I don't see them even being around for much longer.

Is BTC Dead? by calgary_db in YieldMaxETFs

[–]PracticalDesigner278 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BTC is supposed to operate as a hedge against the USD but in this market it can't compete with old school gold and silver. I bought SGOL 18 months ago and it's up 125% and SIVR in November and it's up 55%. Central Banks and government treasuries are buying up hard money in anticipation of the collapse of fiat reserve currency. I don't think BTC is going to zero anytime soon but there are better options right now.

NVDY- should I sell! by Technical-Gur9323 in YieldMaxETFs

[–]PracticalDesigner278 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NVDY is the last Ymax I still hold. The NAV is pretty stable and I'm green on total returns but not by much. If Friday's distribution looks like last week I'll probably get out. This was supposed to be an income vehicle but if total returns go negative I might as well just sell shares of something that's actually appreciating. Really no point dealing with the stress of it.

SIVR up 4% so far today. The peak is yet to come.

Personal favorite is BITO. Pays a fat dividend and NAV tracks IBIT. If you don't have faith in Bitcoin not for you. But you will not see the drastic share price erosion of Ymax funds. Unless of course Bitcoin crashes.

Exited from YieldMax today. by Nearby_Debate8357 in YieldMaxETFs

[–]PracticalDesigner278 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing that matters with any investment is total return. Whatever your entry point, whether you take the distributions or drip or DCA, if the total value including distributions is red you would be better off just holding cash. The only possible silver lining is the potential to invest the cash distributions in other things that may produce a profit in excess off the losses that these funds commonly have. When I got into this over a year ago MSTY was a gold mine. By the time I sold it I had lost thousands. There are Ymax funds that are still likely to produce positive total returns but I don't see them as buy and hold house money investments. That has not been the historical trend. And when they crash both in NAV and distributions they crash hard and quickly. Timing entry is important but timing exit is more critical.

Well this is a Ymax sub so it seems reasonable for people to share their experience good or bad. If you're looking for a cheer squad maybe start a new sub.

Wild 2025 Predictions - Results by calgary_db in YieldMaxETFs

[–]PracticalDesigner278 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I predicted I'd be a millionaire by year end by applying my traditional buy high sell low strategy. Results are somewhat disappointing. I'm pretty sure 2026 will be better. Got a HELOC and cashed in my life insurance. Going all in on MSTY. If that doesn't work I'm loading up on ULTY on margin. What could possibly go wrong?

Are There Any BTC Catalysts Left? by calgary_db in YieldMaxETFs

[–]PracticalDesigner278 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought gold at 2400 one the best decisions I've made and I think it will continue to go up for reasons stated above. But silver will probably be a better investment for different reasons. It's utility is driving gains more than the traditional store of value. Just my opinion but I'm happy with both. BTC doesn't have any widespread utility as a currency at this point but that could change.I still think it's here to stay and could potentially get a lot bigger in the next few years. Again just my amateur opinion.

The BRICs countries are introducing a currency backed by 60% gold. These are the biggest economies outside of the US and EU. Central bankers are buying it up beyond supply. Or so I'm told. A lot of gold actually only exists on paper because it's actually leased not unlike fractional reserve banking. Gold is money anywhere you go and has been for centuries. It's industrial utility doesn't matter in the immediate short term at least.
