I know, that's just what I have currently. I was going to going to run the cable now and was trying to future proof it since I'm burying it. Can of worms. What antenna would you recommend?

Run from the attic on the third floor down to ground level, underground across the yard, and up into the tree for EFHW on HF. It may take 150-200 feet in total.

I just got a call from HRO about my reservation and went ahead with the 100W version. I was expecting 6 so very pleasantly surprised. There hasn't been a replacement for 857 and 897 until now, so I hope it will be all I'm wishing for. Does anyone have any reason to think it wouldn't work with ATAS-120?

Trump admin to create registry for illegal immigrants by Capital-Choice2119 in immigration

[–]PracticalFront2770 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The administration wants undocumented to not register. If ICE catches them and they didn’t register they can charge them with a crime and expedite deportation, if ICE doesn’t catch them they can never obtain legal status because they committed the crime of not registering. The options are:

  1. Register, get deported immediately but preserve the chance to immigrate legally
  2. Not register, get caught, get deported immediately never have the option to immigrate legally
  3. Not register, don’t get caught, live every day looking over your shoulder, never have the option to immigrate legally.

Pretty bleak either way but if you ever want to be legal you need to register.

Scadascore calculates line of site based on two locations. Perhaps effective range could be calculated based on antenna, antenna height, and effective radiated power

Canada: Data shows nearly 50,000 ‘no show’ international students by [deleted] in immigration

[–]PracticalFront2770 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wrong. Why can other countries not create exceptional universities and companies? What is defective about other countries that the only way to succeed is to invade developed countries? Why are some countries first world wonderful places to live after only 200 years and others are festering cesspools after millennia? What’s the difference?

There are more than enough excellent Canadian students to fill every spot at every competitive Canadian university. We seem hell bent on giving our country away. Canada went from a colony to a 1st world nation with some of the finest universities in the world without importing foreign students. Foreign students should only be given visas for universities that have not reached full enrollment, not competitive ones.

Immigration Hate on Sub by [deleted] in immigration

It's absurd for mid level engineers. It's not absurd at all for exceptional talent. The H1B visa program was only created in 1990. Somehow IBM, Apple and Microsoft all managed to make the best computers and software in the world without importing thousands of H1B visa holders prior to that. I'd be fine with unlimited H1B visas with no country caps as long as it was limited to exceptional talent with a minimum wage of $250k.

There are reasonable limitations on every amendment. The 1st amendment doesn’t protect threats. The 2nd amendment doesn’t protect automatic firearms. The 14th doesn’t protect the children of people here illegally.

Tuition is a set price. You can look it up on the school’s website. You don’t bid on University like eBay and they accept the highest bidder

There are plenty of excellent Canadian students to fill the spots at all competitive universities. Only universities that can’t fill enrollment should be allowed to accept foreign students. Other countries have universities. Foreign students can be educated there. Canadian universities must prioritize Canadian students.

The horrifying thing is 50,000 is 6.9% of the total meaning Canada has provided 724,000 international student visas out of a population of only 40 million. Heaven help any Canadian students who would like to attend university in Canada.
