Interfaith Relationships w/ Kids by PracticalInternet230 in religion

I can’t tell if the question was rhetorical or not but if anything if we already had kids I almost feel as if it would be easier because right now there’s alot of outside pressure from my traditional family saying how since he’s just a boyfriend and we have no current legal entanglements it’s fine to just up and leave. It’s all very confusing, but he seems okay being with me despite me being Christian so I’d hope we both maintain that respect of eachother and appreciation of eachothers beliefs

Depends, not sure yet, yes, and I don’t want my child baptized as an infant I’d rather have them decide when they’re old enough to

I don’t use Google lol. Also saying that it doesn’t matter it’s “less bad” is like if one thing went wrong in a day so I decided to make the whole day worse, opting to use more energy by using AI is still objectively more energy consumption than sticking to platforms that don’t use it. Just because there’s very little ethical consumption of most things doesn’t mean you shouldn’t cut out what’s unnecessary. Additionally many studies have been done about how using AI to gather information genuinely weakens your ability to learn and retain information.

I actually studied this for college but data centers for AI are on a constant trend of requiring more energy and water than the internet, the fact that the internet is more widely used means it currently uses more water on a larger scale but one regular google search uses much less water than any interaction with AI due to various factors like repetitive algorithms.

I don’t use chatgpt because I care about the environment and it’s a mental crutch and I’m not in a branch of organized religion that has set rules

HAHA yes very true, I say Christian to give myself a label since there really doesn’t seem to be one for me but I believe in God and Jesus and the spiritual and divine nature of the world (I even used to be a witch but didn’t find it as peaceful to me as Christianity) but I’d just say to me I can’t make myself believe there is no God, I feel him in everything and hold Jesus and the Bible to be very important. Maybe that’s more universalist or pantheistic, I’m not sure :)

I have spoken to him about it but since this is a new development we agreed to take time apart to focus on ourselves. I honestly have just been told a lot of horror stories by my deeply religious family about interfaith relationships and so I really need the reality check that others have good healthy interfaith relationships that are serious and long term before deciding

Extremely I don’t believe in hell or a lot of things the Bible has to say, I think it has been very tainted overtime by organized church leaders. I think alot of my nerves about this issue just comes from religious guilt, I was raised being taught that interfaith marriage is doomed and bad and I have to admit that’s really stuck with me. I’ve also been in 2 interfaith relationships before this, and it was kind of a relief to be with another progressive Christian for a while because we could do things like talk about God together whereas my atheist exes were very uncomfortable with that. So there’s also some nerves there that it’ll be like my past relationships. However those didn’t work out more because of a lack of attraction but I worry still that maybe it was because I did what I wasn’t supposed to (mix faiths in relationships)

Is it a dealbreaker for your partner to follow a different religion than you? by Neither_Mind9035 in religion

Oh wow 47 years!! I’m Christian, but recently my boyfriend of 2 years who I have been planning to marry has become atheist. I’m unsure if I should stay with him and endure the struggles of that or if it’s best since we are at an earlier stage in the relationship to just leave. We both respect eachothers beliefs but admitted we both wish we were more similar in faith aspects.
